Orestes "Furacao" Betran is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as Londrina Fight Show, Gravidade Zero Combate, Explosion Fight Night, Nitrix Show Fight, Evolution Super Fight, G1 Open Fight, Tsunamy, Champions Fight, Taca Thai, Attitude Fight, Mariliense Mixed Martial Arts Circuit, Floripa Fight, Paranavai Combate, and Combat Fest. At the time of this short interview, his next scheduled match is against Kajan Johnson in the Maximum Fighting Championship at MFC 27: Breaking Point on November 12th, 2010.
Darrick: What was the road that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?
Orestes: I have always liked various sports in my life and I just decided to choose MMA as a way of life for myself.
Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?
Orestes: My family, Jesus Christ, my wife, and my friends.
Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?
Orestes: You must always train every day as if it were a war because in the ring or the cage it is not easy. This sport is extremely difficult.
Darrick: Your next scheduled fight is against Kajan Johnson on November 12th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming match?
Orestes: I am coming into this bout with Kajan thinking about it the way I do with all of my other fights. I fight for victory at all times.
Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?
Orestes: Wanderlei Silva, the Nogueira brothers, and Chuck Liddell. They always approach their struggles from beginning to end, looking for a finalization and always thinking about a knockout.
Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?
Orestes: Being recognized for the work done in my fights.
Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?
Orestes: Striving to maintain a good family with good structure, having great friends, and concentrating on having good health.
Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.
Orestes: I become a much happier person every day and I'm very playful.
Darrick: If you had three wishes, what would they be?
Orestes: I would like to have excellent health so that I can fight forever, I'd enjoy having a big family, and I would of course like to overcome all of the difficulties in my life.
Darrick: What is your oldest memory?
Orestes: The death of my brother.
