This will be an area where I can shift the focus towards writers and artists, primarily those working professionally within the comic industry. Graphic novels and comic books are perhaps the last frontier for pure freedom and expression, flying under the radar of mass media regulations. An outlaw artform. Somewhere for thinkers and creators to go to push their own boundaries. Or just plain fun, depending on what you're looking for. There's something for everybody.
The first interviews of mine to show up at www.panelbound.com are the five that I did back in 2007 and 2008. Figured it'd be best to get those out to a fresh audience before cranking out some new ones. The following links down below are to those particular interviews. David Mack is a professional artist and writer who is widely recognized in the field of comic books. He has done work for titles such as Daredevil, Alias, SE7EN, Avengers, Swamp Thing, White Tiger, Jinx, Grendel, Transmetropolitan, Red Sonja, NYC Mech, and many other books. He may be most well known for his work on his personal title called Kabuki. David Mack has also released his first children's book called The Shy Creatures and has plans to continue with this medium. A film documenting the most in-depth interview ever conducted with David Mack called The Alchemy Of Art was made available by Hero Video Productions and is the winner of multiple prestigious awards.
Mack has also illustrated and designed jazz and rock albums for both American and Japanese Labels (including work for Paul McCartney), painted Tori Amos for her RAINN benifit calendars, designed toys and packaging for companies in Hong Kong, animation art for MTV, ad campaigns for SAKURA art materials, written and designed video games for film director John Woo and Electronic Arts, and contributed the artwork for Dr. Arun Ghandi's essay on the "Culture of Non-Violence". David Mack releases a series of art books as well called Reflections that include sketches, figure drawings, step by step art processes, paintings, etc.
Fred Hembeck is a professional artist and writer who has mainly worked within the comic book format. His work has been seen in DC's "Daily Planet" feature, Marvel Age, The Fantastic Four Roast, Fred Hembeck Destroys The Marvel Universe, and Fred Hembeck Sells The Marvel Universe. Image Comics also released The Nearly Complete Essential Hembeck Archives Omnibus which collects all of his Dateline:@$% comic strips from the Comics Buyers Guide.
Jim Balent is a professional artist and writer who has worked on various comic book titles such as Catwoman, Detective Comics, Green Lantern Corps, Lobo's Big Babe Spring Break Special, Purgatori: The Vampire's Myth, Batman: Batgirl – Frenzy, Evil Ernie: Revenge, The Supernaturals, Red Sonja, and many others. He created his own company called BroadSword Comics where he produces his ongoing series Tarot, Witch of the Black Rose along with his wife Holly Golightly (also known as Holly G!). BroadSword Comics also releases titles such as 3 Little Kittens and School Bites.
Holly Golightly (also known as Holly G!) is a professional artist and writer who mainly works within the comic book format. She is the vice president of her husband Jim Balent's company called BroadSword Comics as well as the colorist on Tarot, Witch of the Black Rose and the model for Tarot herself. Her project titled School Bites is available as well. Holly G! has also worked on characters/projects such as Vampfire, Cheryl Blossom, Josie And The Pussycats, Betty & Veronica, Cosmo Girl, and Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. She consistently makes contributions to New Witch Magazine and has also done design work for the musician Thomas Dolby.
Mickmo is a professional artist and writer who has worked on various comic book titles such as Furrlough, Milk, Genus, Hit The Beach, and Gold Digger. He has also done work for bands like Punished Earth (in Belgium) for Uxicon Records, The Origin Official Website, and Grenouer (in Russia) for the CD Maximum. Zine and newspaper works include The Pitch, Static Zine, and AEA Zine.
Oh, and I have one interview that doesn't quite fit into any of the aforementioned brackets. So far, I've only interviewed one person who would be known more as a musician than anything else in their professional endeavors. Here's the information on that following piece.

Chuck D (Carlton Douglas Ridenhour) is a professional musician, author, producer, and lecturer. He may be most known for his work as the frontman for legendary Hip Hop group Public Enemy. Along with Flavor Flav, Terminator X, Professor Griff, and the Bomb Squad, the group helped pave the way for politically conscious rap and is listed on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Chuck D has also released a solo project titled Autobiography Of Mistachuck and fronted the band called Fine Arts Militia.
