Recapping with Shonie Carter - I'm putting the promotions on

Shonie "Mr. International" Carter is one of the most popular fighters of all times. He boasts an amazing two hundred plus fights and isn't letting anything slow him down. In fact, in a span of six weeks, Carter will be fighting three different times. But it isn't whom he is fighting that has Mr. International so amped up; it's the promotions. MMA Recap sat down with Shonie Carter to discuss his training for his fights, but got a completely different story.

"Mr. International" doesn't really care whom he fights for; it's more about WHERE he fights. When MMA Recap saw him at the Bellator event in Chicago, he was dumb founded as to why he wasn't fighting on that card. When asked about Bellator Carter said, "I haven't even heard from them. How are you going to have a fight show in Chicago and only bring in rookies to fight for that much money? I'm gonna say it, they suck! How do you have a guy who is 6-0 fight for $100,000?"

His thoughts on Strikeforce: "Man I would fight for that belt in a heart beat. I'm going around fighting for all of these belts. Too many people say they have the best welterweight fighters but I am taking them all. I am going to win all of the titles, and melt them all into one giant belt. I want to fight for Strikeforce. I do."

"I want to fight for the UFC. I got not problem with the UFC. I hope they bring me back. They are bringing all these other old guys back, why not me."

"I'm the first mixed martial arts fighter from Chicago. They haven't found anybody that has flown the flag of mixed martial arts in Chicago to replace me. We are the third largest pay-per-view and no one is as accomplished as I am. I am Chicago's people champion."

Shonie Carter is scheduled to fight Derrick Noble on Saturday September 5 in Aruba and then on September 20th he will fight "Ultimate Fighter" cast member Danny Abbadi and finally he will take on UFC veteran Carlos Newton on October 10th.

It's unfortunate that they probably won't. But as he said, they brought back Baroni, Trigg, Tito and he thinks it's time for some older guys to be brought back. Who knows though.

Baroni, Trigg, Tito are far bigger draws than Shonie.

I agree with Tito being a bigger draw. Not so sure I can say the same about Baroni or Trigg. Shonie can talk with the best of them and I am sure one fight would be all it would take to welcome in some new fans.
