Japanese judoka Satoshi Ishii returns at "X-1: Nations Collide" on June 4
Japanese Olympic gold-medalist Satoshi Ishii (1-1) returns to action against mixed martial arts rookie Myles Tyanes (0-0) on June 4.
The pair meet in a featured matchup at "X-1: Nations Collide" at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Ishii, the 2008 Beijing Games' judo heavyweight champion, seeks his second-straight MMA win after earning a submission victory over Tafa Misipati at this past week's "X-plosion: New Zealand vs. Japan" event in New Zealand.
Ishii made his professional debut this past New Year's Eve when he faced the far-more experienced Hidehiko Yoshida at the DREAM/World Victory Road/K-1 collaborated Dynamite!! 2009 event. A fellow Japanese national hero, Yoshida collected judo gold at at the 1992 Barcelona Games.
Despite the wealth of grappling experience between the two, Ishii and Yoshida elected to stand and trade, and the elder fighter was awarded a unanimous-decision win.
Ishii, who has negotiated in the past with the UFC, maintains hope that he'll one day fight in the heavyweight division of the world's top mixed martial arts organization.
The main event of the night sees Hawaiian Brandon Wolff (7-4) fight for the first time since being released from the UFC after a two-bout run. Wolff takes on submission stylist Dylan Clay (7-2) with the vacant X-1 welterweight title on the line.
The card also features the first round of an eight-man light heavyweight tournament that includes notables Eun Soo Lee (14-2) and Poai Suganuma (9-3).
