Flurry of First Round Finishes at M-1 Selection 2010

When 12 bouts on M-1Global’s highly anticipated M-1 Selection 2010 – Americas second round were completed on Saturday night at Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, fans were entertained with heavy-leather knockouts and slick submissions as the tournament brackets progressed.

The Americas third round will present a stellar card of returnees in semi-final action as they chase their quest to win their respective weight classes and the Selection Championship title. “Without a doubt, M-1 is well on well its way in finding the next generation of mixed martial arts stars,” says Evgeni Kogan, M-1’s Director of Operations. “The stakes just got higher for the fighters advancing to the next stage and the competition only gets tougher from here on.”

Aaron Meisner def. Vagner Fernandez - :25 of round 1 via TKO

The M-1 Selection Americas third round is slated to return to Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City on August 7, 2010 with the tournament match-ups being announced shortly. The Third Round represents semi-final action showcasing elimination fights in all weight classes with the winners advancing to the Americas Finals and one step away from the M-1 Selection 2010 Championship.

The “M-1 Selection” is the world’s premiere MMA competition where the next generation of superstars are given the opportunity to showcase their skills on the world stage with fighters being eliminated after only one loss; victory will advance the winning fighters throughout the tournament and earn them a trip to the championship event where they will compete for the coveted “M-1 Selection” title.

The “M-1 Selection” tournament is broken down into global regions: Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and the Americas with each region hosting three rounds and a final of the ““M-1 Selection” tournament. The winning fighter in each weight class will gain the opportunity to fight on the larger international stage..
