Former Strikeforce Heavyweight Championship challenger headed to Canada for his next appearance this Fall
Former Strikeforce Heavyweight Championship challenger Brett "The Grim" Rogers is on his way to Canada as the Warrior One (W-1) promotion has announced that they have signed Rogers to headline their "New Ground" event on October 23rd against MMA journeyman Ruben "Warpath" Villareal.
Rogers has not competed since dropping the title bout against Alistair Overeem via first-round TKO at the "Heavy Artillery" event on May 15th in St. Louis, MO. The loss was the second straight for Rogers as he came into that title fight off of his first career loss against Fedor Emelianenko in the main event of Strikeforce's first CBS event in November of 2009 just outside of Chicago, IL.
Meanwhile, Villareal will be making his first appearance since a September 2009 victory over Deandre Goree at a Gladiator Challenge event in California, a victory that evened his record in his last four fights at 2-2. "Warpath" is probably best known for his high-profile loss to Bas Rutten at a WFA event in July of 2006 or his positive steroid test following a June 2007 loss to Jimmy Ambriz, but has fought a who's who in the Heavyweight division including Justin McCully, Don Frye, Ricco Rodriguez, Paul Buentello and Dan Severn.
The event, which is scheduled for the Halifax Forum in Halifax, NS, will also feature appearances by Roger Hollett, William Romero, Sean Pierson and former TUF 11 cast member Jamie Yager.

Rogers not fighting a Strikeforce heavyweight.............such as Bigfoot or Griggs is ridiculous.
What do you expect? The comedian is dead.
