UFC 84: Fight Bonuses! & Other Info *Spoiler*

Postby keithlewis » Sun May 25, 2008 5:02 pm

Dana White announced that UFC 84 raked in 3.7 million in live gate revenue. The announced attendance of 14,733 people generated the revenue, which is the forth highest MMA live gate take in Nevada state history.

The numbers, while strong, are a little more than a million under what UFC 79 (4.9 million) did on New Years Eve '07, but did much better than UFC 81 which made 2.4 million in live gate revenue.

Awards:

Wanderlei Silva was awarded the "Knockout of the Night" for his impressive first-round knockout of Keith Jardine -- $75,000

Rousimar Palhares earned "Submission of the Night" after applying an armbar against fellow brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner Ivan Salaverry -- $75,000

Goran Reljic defeated Wilson Gouveia to secure the "Fight of the Night" -- $75,000

UFC 84 FIGHTERS RETURN CLEAN DRUG TEST RESULTS

All of the fighters from UFC 84 that were drug tested have returned negative results, according to Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The 15 fighters tested at the event were: Sean Sherk, B.J. Penn, Keith Jardine, Wanderlei Silva, Tito Ortiz, Lyoto Machida, Rousimar Palhares, Ivan Salaverry, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Rich Clementi, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Shane Carwin, Thiago Silva, Goran Reljic and Dong Hyun Kim.

The fighters were tested both for drugs of abuse (recreational drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, etc.) and performance enhancing substances (such as steroids).

B.J. Penn, Sean Sherk, and Tito Ortiz were also tested in the weeks prior to the event as part of the NSAC’s new out of competition random drug testing program. As previously reported, all three passed the out of competition drug tests.
What do you expect? The comedian is dead.
