Sources close to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira's camp have informed Fightline.com that Vernon White has been dropped from Affliction's inaugural card as the former UFC fighter tested positive for a banned substance. MMAjunkie first reported the news and confirmed that White had indeed tested positive for a banned diuretic at a regional show that he recently participated in. White plans to file an appeal to the local commission but has been dropped from the card nonetheless.
Fightline.com has also confirmed that White, who was originally scheduled to face Nogueira on Fox Sports Net's portion of Affliction's upcoming card, will now be replaced by Edwin "Babyface" Dewees according to sources within Nogueira's camp.
Dewees (35-12), a TUF 4 alum and veteran UFC fighter, brings a wealth of experience into the ring with him; and at just 25 years old he'll be looking to catapult himself back onto the national scene with a win over Nogueira. He's coming off of a submission victory over Richard Blake in his last outing but is 1-4 in his past five contests.
