The Nevada State Athletic Commission has weighed in on UFC Fight Night 14 and the news is good and bad for the fighters and promotion. 10 of 11 fighters that were randomly chosen to be tested by the NSAC have come back clean for drugs of abuse, as well as performance-enhancing drugs.
Late word has James Irvin testing positive for oxymorphone and methadone. Irvin has twenty days to respond and request a formal hearing to dispute the finding. If the ruling is upheld he faces a possible fine and suspension.
The show was headlined by Anderson Silva's UFC Light Heavyweight debut against Irvin and both main event fighters were tested, as well as Hermes Franca, Frankie Edgar, Cain Velazquez, Brandon Vera, C.B. Dollaway, Tim Credeur, Cale Yarbrough, and Shannon Gugerty.
The NSAC also released the attendance and gate revenue information for the event, which was attended by 2,071 fans at the Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas (1,690 paid), earning the UFC a live gate of around $590,000.
