ONE FC Returns to Malaysia with Kayoom vs Suzuki on Nov. 15

Asia’s largest mixed martial arts organization with a 90% market share, ONE Fighting Championship, presented by Tune Talk, returns to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for another blockbuster event on 15 November 2013 at the historic Stadium Putra. Headlining the fight card is one of the most highly-anticipated fights in ONE FC history –the inaugural ONE FC Welterweight World Championship title bout between Malaysia’s own Adam “Shogun” Shahir Kayoom and Japanese KO artist Nobutatsu Suzuki. Fight fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of ONE FC to Kuala Lumpur after closely following the intense non-stop, adrenaline-pumping action that has accompanied the promotion throughout the multi-city tour this year. The wait is now over and Malaysian fans are expected to be treated to yet another sold-out event, fight fans are set to pack out the 15,000-seater Stadium Putra once again for a night of world-class MMA action.

CEO of ONE Fighting Championship Victor Cui stated, “We are coming back to the capital of Malaysia to put on one of the greatest fight cards in Asian MMA history. We will finally settle the question of who deserves to be the World Champion of ONE FC's Welterweight division. This fight is especially significant for the proud Malaysians fans as one of their own will be stepping up to contend for the title belt. ONE FC is putting together a fight card that will blow away the millions of passionate fight fans all around the world, and of course, we are also extremely excited to have Tune Talk as an official partner of ONE FC once again. Tune Talk has proven time and time again that they are the top mobile prepaid operator in Malaysia with their forward-thinking strategies and mass market appeal.”

CEO of Tune Talk Jason Lo stated, “Tune Talk is excited to be the presenting partner again as ONE FC returns to Malaysia. Tune Talk is committed to growing the sport of mixed martial arts in Asia and there is no bigger promotion in Asia than ONE FC. November 15 will be another night of exciting mixed martial arts action and I look forward to seeing our Tune Talk warriors compete once again inside the famed ONE FC cage. “

The ONE FC Welterweight World Championship title fight will feature a battle between the top fighter to ever come out of Malaysia, Adam Shahir Kayoom and the veteran Japanese slugger Nobutatsu Suzuki.

Adam Shahir Kayoom is one of the most decorated Malaysian martial artists to ever compete in MMA. He holds black belts in BJJ, Taekwondo and Karate and has won world titles in Muay Thai as well as numerous titles and tournaments in Taekwondo and BJJ. Kayoom is probably best known for his dramatic come-from-behind victory over BJJ legend Gregor Gracie in front of a screaming home crowd at ONE FC: DESTINY OF WARRIORS. After the win, Kayoom, who was born and bred in Malaysia, delighted the crowd by addressing them in Bahasa Melayu. He continued his winning streak at ONE FC: RETURN OF WARRIORS defeating Indonesian veteran Zuli Silawanto by submission in the first round. The popular Kayoom is sure to receive one of the biggest cheers of the night when ONE FC returns to his home country of Malaysia. Facing an extremely tough and versatile Japanese MMA veteran for the Welterweight title inside the famed ONE FC cage puts the weight of the nation’s honor squarely on Kayoom’s shoulders come 15 November.

Nobutatsu Suzuki is a fighter who has proven that he has one-punch KO power, especially with a record to back up that claim – 9 of his 10 victories by KO. With a record like this, he has one of the highest percentage of stoppage wins in all of MMA. Suzuki is famous for being the first fighter in Asia to showcase the incredible striking power of Karate in an MMA context. The Kyokushin Karate black belt last fought at ONE FC: RISE TO POWER, defeating one of MMA’s most experienced combatants, Phil Baroni, by TKO. With two heavy-hitters locking horns on 15 November, fans are already predicting a “Knockout of the Night” due to both fighters having the ability to end the fight in an instant. And with the fact that the most prestigious title in MMA is on the line, this is one match that is set to blow the roof off of Stadium Putra.

This will be the toughest fight of the careers for both Kayoom and Suzuki, and there is no doubt that this will be the defining fight of their MMA career as they compete to be called the one and only ONE FC Welterweight World Champion.
