PunchDrunkGamer’s Best of 2013 – Mixed Martial Arts Awards Part I

There were numerous story lines that came out of the year of 2013 in the world of mixed martial arts: Georges St-Pierre quasi-retirement, Chris Weidman knocking out Anderson Silva, and these were just some of the few that held the public’s attention. But then there was even the strange. A transgender fighter made headlines, top contenders Jon Fitch and Yushin Okami was surprisingly cut from the UFC. Even women took center stage in the UFC and headlined a pay-per-view; it was just that sort of year. Below is Part I featuring the best KOs, male fighter awards and the best events of 2013, presented exclusively by PunchDrunkGamer.com.

Fight Of The Year was a good call. But I would have personally liked the Silva VS. Stann fight. That was a battle!

It was definitely high on the list. It was an entertaining bout, but the back-and-forward drama from the Big Foot/Hunt fight was the key ingredient. These guys were slugging and kept it entertaining for 25 whole minutes. Very few fights can do that.

^^^^ Agreed. I hate how the fight is now tainted with the whole PED fog surrounding Bigfoot. None the less, great fight.

Silva vs. Stann was one of those fights that I couldn't sit down for. It was so much in such a short time, I was in shock by it! Awesome fight!
