Cyrille Diabate to retire following UFC Fight Night 37 bout

Postby ST3ALTHSE7EN » Thu Mar 06, 2014 4:09 pm

It looks like another UFC fighter will be calling it quits. This time, it'll be Cyrille Diabate.

The 40 year old with over 20 years of experience in combat sports will be calling it quits after this weekend's UFC Fight Night 37 in London.

Diabate (19-9-1 in MMA and 4-3 in the UFC) will enter the cage Saturday for his last bout against Ilir Latifi.

Here's a piece of his interview with MMA Junkie.

“The motivation when you’re 40 years old is your biggest enemy,” Diabate said. “You’ve got to keep something in your mind that motivates you. For this fight, the motivation was not stopping with that kind of performance and that kind of injury. It was easy for me to get in the gym every day and work my ass off.

“But after this fight, I don’t think anything is going to be motivating me enough to make those sacrifices and be in the gym daily.”

Godspeed, Cyrille.

This sucks but a fighter has to know when he is finished..... The Snake is a constant contributor on our UFC Guest Panel Predictions so atleast he will be around here for a while longer.

Here's hoping he kicks some ass this weekend!
