Roger Gracie vs. Yuki Kondo Added to Sengoku II

On Monday, World Victory Road announced that Roger Gracie will make his debut with the promotion against former King of Pancrase, Yuki Kondo on the promotion’s second event on May 18.

Gracie (1-0) won his mixed martial arts debut against Ron Waterman by armbar in December. Gracie is best known for winning the 88-98 kilogram division in 2005 at the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship, submitting all eight opponents. He also took the open-weight title in 2005, and placed third in the 88-98 kilogram division in 2003 – along with numerous other tournament wins (including Pan Am and CBJJ Worlds).

Kondo (48-21-6) is one of the most experienced fighters in the game today. In his last bout on April 27 he lost a decision to Keiichiro Yamamiya. He holds wins over Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, Sanae Kikuta, Mario Sperry, Akihiro Gono, Brian Gassaway, Semmy Schilt, Ikuhisa Minowa, Masakatsu Funaki, and Frank Shamrock.

Sengoku II is set to feature Josh Barnett against Jeff Monson in the main event, as well as Kevin Randleman’s long-awaited return to MMA against Ryo Kawamura.

Good addition to the card, and although Kondo is past his prime he will still be a good test for Gracie's MMA game.
