Anderson Silva Update!
By Edu Ramos
Anderson Silva didn’t want an easy and fast fight versus James Irvin in UFN 14 last Saturday. "It's funny, isn't it? We train and do the things seriously and when we come in there, we put into action what we prepared for in training. Thank goodness everything was perfect." said the middleweight champion.
The ‘Spider’ will fight again in September. He is in Los Angeles to support Rafael Feijão – who is going to take part in the EliteXC event next weekend. After that, he comes back to Brazil where the training to his next challenger will be done.
Yushin Okami got fracture in his hand last week. So Silva likely will defend his title versus Patrick Cote, who is coming off a victory over the Brazilian Ricardo Cachorrão. Dana White had stated this could be a probable match-up and now we're waiting for the official announcement.
Anderson showed impressive Muay-Thai skills and overcame Irvin easily. The champion got the respect of Dana White and maybe he'll fight again at light heavyweight division – the hardest UFC division. Despite that, the ‘Spider’ has told us he is focused in middleweight division but money talks loud and Mr. White knows how to make reality happen.
Unfortunately, the people don't consider Lyoto Machida a show-man and it counts him out of the contender for the title, at least for while. Even after two great victories over Sokoudjou and Ortiz, the ‘Dragon’ didn't get much attention from the public. That's why Anderson Silva may fight at 205 lbs and reach a title-shot before Machida.
The only thing that can change this situation is the friendship between Anderson and Lyoto. Anderson stated recently "This belt belongs to Lyoto Machida. He deserves it" but business comes first and many things are possible in UFC.
The fans are excited and they might want Anderson to fight LHW versus tough fighters. The middleweight division is dominated by Silva and he wants to be apart of UFC history and win two belts. Let's see what the future holds for these fantastic warriors.
