The Titan Fighting Championship (http://www.TitanFighting.com) officially announced on Tuesday that former multi-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia has signed on with the promotion to replace Todd Duffee during its scheduled broadcast debut on HDNet (http://www.HDNetFights.com) set for Friday, January 28.

Sylvia, 28-6, will now face Abe Wagner, 8-2, a veteran from the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, in a heavyweight tilt that will headline an HDNet telecast set to emanate live from the historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City.

The move to add Sylvia to the card was necessitated when Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly granted Duffee permission to accept a New Year's Eve showdown in Japan against Strikeforce heavyweight champion and recent K-1 Grand Prix winner Alistair Overeem.

"Titan is a fighter-friendly organization. We treat the athletes that work with us like people and not commodities," Kelly began. "While we were excited to have Todd be a part of our HDNet debut, we also realize how important the Overeem fight was for him at this stage of his career. I have a long-standing friendship with Todd's manager, Monte Cox, and Titan's burgeoning relationship with HDNet is also very important. We didn't want to stand in the way of this great fight happening on New Year's Eve with everyone in the States also being able to watch on HDNet."

By securing Sylvia, Titan was able to ensure MMA fans will still get to view a high-profile main event.

"Tim is a two-time former UFC heavyweight champion and has headlined some of the biggest MMA shows in the history of the sport," said Kelly. "We're very fortunate to be able to add him to Titan FC 16 on such short notice. By letting Todd take the fight vs. Overeem, we are allowing ourselves to get to work with Tim on our Jan. 28 show and then still get to book Todd on a future show."

Sylvia is currently on a four-fight win streak with victories over notables such as Paul Buentello and Polish strongman Mariusz Pudianowski. Both fights were televised nationally on PPV but he will now anchor a free television broadcast on HDNet that will also feature a middleweight encounter between hard-hitting UFC veteran Drew McFedries, 8-6, and rising prospect Gary Tapasua, 6-1. Additional fights will be announced in the coming days.

The live national televised broadcast of Titan Fighting Championship 16 on Jan. 28 will begin at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT with the local undercard starting at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT. Tickets for the event, which will emanate from the historic Memorial Hall (http://www.MemorialHallKC.com), are currently on-sale at Ticketmaster.com and the Memorial Hall box office.

WEC VETERAN L.C. DAVIS TO MAKE LONG-ANTICIPATED K.C. HOMECOMING AT TITAN FC 16 ON JAN. 28, TO BE TELEVISED LIVE ON HDNET

Kansas City, KS -- The Titan Fighting Championship (http://www.TitanFighting.com) announced today that IFL, Affliction, and WEC veteran L.C. Davis has signed to compete at Titan Fighting Championship 16 to be held on Friday, January 28 and airing live nationally on HDNet (http://www.HD.net).

Davis, 16-4, Titan's last reigning featherweight champion, will take on Jared Downing in a featherweight clash.

The 30-year old Davis is a native of Kansas City, Missouri and after spending significant time training in Bettendorf, Iowa under the guidance of legendary MMA trainer Pat Miletich, recently moved back home. He is one of the area's most popular fighters and is eager to make his homecoming appearance.

"It means a lot to get to come home and fight in front of all my family and friends," said an excited Davis. "I'm really thankful that Titan is giving me the opportunity to compete in my hometown. I'm looking forward to showcasing my talents on Jan. 28."

Davis holds notable victories in his career over Conor Heun, Rafael Dias, Bao Quach, Diego Nunes, Javier Vazquez, and Deividas Taurosevicius. His last fight for Titan was in July of 2007, where he recorded a first round TKO against Dan Sullivan at Titan Fighting Championship 8.

Looking to spoil Davis' welcome home party is Downing, who is undefeated at 5-0 and a fighter that industry insiders consider to be one of the fastest rising prospects in both the bantamweight and featherweight divisions.

The Iowa native holds notable career victories over Chad Vandenberg, Ramiro Hernandez Jr., and one-time Bellator Fighting Championships bantamweight tournament competitor Danny Tims.

"Jared is one of the strongest fighters you will encounter in the lighter weight divisions. He's fought twice for Bellator and has looked dominant against strong competition," said Titan Fighting Championship CEO Joe Kelly. "L.C. has fought at the highest level of MMA and has designs on returning. Jared is being looked at by numerous organizations right now. There is a lot on the line for both fighters."

Davis vs. Downing will be featured during the national televised broadcast of Titan Fighting Championship 16 on Jan. 28 starting at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT with the local undercard starting at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT. Tickets for the event, which will emanate from the historic Memorial Hall (http://www.MemorialHallKC.com), are currently on-sale at Ticketmaster.com, all local Ticketmaster outlets, and the Memorial Hall box office.

In addition to Davis vs. Downing, other announced fights include a two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim "The Maineiac" Sylvia taking on TUF 10 veteran Abe Wagner in a heavyweight encounter; hard hitting middleweights Drew McFedries and Gary Tapasua; and "The Kansas City Bandit" Jason High vs. Rudy "Bad News" Bears in a battle to determine Kansas City's number one welterweight.

UFC VETERAN RICH CLEMENTI SET TO REPLACE L.C. DAVIS AT TITAN FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP 16

Kansas City, KS -- The Titan Fighting Championship (http://www.TitanFighting.com) has officially confirmed that WEC featherweight veteran L.C. Davis has been forced to withdraw from next Friday's Titan Fighting Championship 16 event due to a knee injury.

Replacing Davis on the card will be popular UFC veteran Rich Clementi.

"I was heartbroken to hear about L.C.'s injury because I know how much it meant to him to be able to come back to Kansas City and compete in front of his friends and family," Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly said in a statement. "However, we really feel good about being able to secure a fighter the stature of Rich Clementi on such short notice."

Clementi, 39-17-1, will be competing in a welterweight contest against Kansas City native Aaron Derrow (8-2), who had previously been scheduled to take on Alonzo Martinez in a lightweight contest. Titan officials are currently exploring options for a replacement opponent to fight Martinez.

Davis had been scheduled to fight undefeated bantamweight/featherweight prospect Jared Downing. It is Kelly's hope that Davis vs. Downing can be re-scheduled for the promotion's next event on Friday, March 25.

Clementi vs. Derrow is set to be a part of the nationally televised portion of Titan Fighting Championship 16, which will air live next Friday (January 28) on HDNet (http://www.HD.net) at 10 p.m. ET. The show will emanate from the historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas and will be headlined by two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim "The Maineiac" Sylvia taking on Abe Wagner, a veteran from the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter.

Additional bouts are planned featuring UFC veteran Drew McFedries challenging Strikeforce veteran Gary Tapasua and UFC and DREAM veteran Jason High squaring off against Strikeforce and Bellator Fighting Championships veteran Rudy Bears.

LIGHTWEIGHT CLASH BETWEEN ALONZO MARTINEZ AND AARON DERROW ADDED TO TITAN FC 16 ON JAN. 28, TO BE TELEVISED LIVE ON HDNET

Kansas City, KS -- The Titan Fighting Championship (http://www.TitanFighting.com) announced today the addition of a lightweight clash between Alonzo Martinez (27-14-1) out of Omaha, Nebraska vs. Aaron Derrow (8-2) from Kansas City, Missouri to its Titan Fighting Championship 16 event, scheduled for Friday, January 28. The event will air live on HDNet (http://www.HD.net) and will emanate from the historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.

The Martinez vs. Derrow bout joins an already announced card that includes a main event between two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia vs. TUF 10 cast member Abe Wagner; UFC and DREAM veteran Jason High taking on Strikeforce and Bellator veteran Rudy Bears in a welterweight contest; and UFC veteran Drew McFedries squaring off vs. Strikeforce veteran Gary Tapasua in a clash of hard-hitting middleweights.

Martinez is one of the most popular fighters in all of the Midwest and is a former Bellator lightweight tournament competitor. Since making his pro debut in 2003, Martinez has recorded notable victories over the likes of current UFC fighter Waylon Lowe; UFC veterans Ryan Roberts and Luke Caudillo; and Brandon Melendez, a veteran from the fifth season of The Ultimate Fighter.

He will face a strong challenge in the form of Derrow, who currently has won his last four fights, including a second round submission victory over Strikeforce veteran Joe Wilk. The 23-year old Derrow initially made a name for himself after submitting three opponents in one night en route to claiming Fight to Win's single-night lightweight tournament crown in 2009.

"The fight between Aaron and Alonzo could end up stealing the show on January 28 because they are very similar stylistically," said Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly. "Both Aaron and Alonzo are well-rounded but they aren't afraid to mix it up on their feet. This is a fight that people will need to pay close attention to because the winner of this bout will put themselves in a position for a bigger opportunity."
