Randy Couture has told anyone that will listen that his days fighting for the UFC are over. He has stated repeatedly that the only fight that makes sense for him now, being in the twilight of his career, is a showdown with the world's consensus number one heavyweight, Fedor Emelianenko.

Couture pushed very hard for this fight and as we learned last week, even went so far as to secure a proposal from M-1, who have a contract with Fedor, to work with the UFC on a cross-promotion. The UFC was having none of it however, and Dana White doesn't appear to be taking Couture's comments seriously per his comments to CBSSportsline.com.

"I expect Randy Couture to honor his contract. He is the heavyweight champion of the UFC. Until he either retires or fulfills his contract, he fights for the UFC," said White.

In fact, White has Couture's next fight with the UFC already tabbed.

"Nogueira and Sylvia are fighting for the interim title, and the winner will fight Randy."

Indeed!! Ahaha.

I really think this fight between Randy and Fedor MUST happen for all of MMA. It really will establish who is the best in all of MMA, or at least the best in the heavyweight division in all of MMA.

Seeing how Fedor has been fighting cans, its definitely more essential for Fedor.

That is a bad idea for the UFC. There is no reason to promote fighters they don't have or other organizations...

Keep in mind other companies are competition. You don't see Pepsi teaming up with Coke.

i'd like to see nog vs randy as much, if not more than fedor vs randy.

obviously, randy's strength is his wrestling, and while a ground fight between randy and fedor could be fun to watch, a ground fight between nog and randy would be more fun.

this development gets my approval! :P

EDIT: i don't think nog and sylvia are fighting for the interim title, as the article mentioned that as long as randy is champ, he can't fight elsewhere due to a clause in his contract. since an interim championship is still a championship, i'd say nog and sylvia are fighting for contender and randy's still official champ.
