When Genair “Junior PQD” da Silva steps into the cage at Bellator 46 LIVE on MTV2, the Brazilian featherweight knows it’s more than just another fight.
“I decided to fight professionally after I realized it could be a way to give my family a better life,” said Silva. “God blessed me because I am here now, doing what I love to do. Now it just depends on me to be the best and to make the most of this opportunity.”
“Junior PQD” will be making a number of debuts at Bellator 46, not only appearing under the Bellator banner for the first time, but it also will mark his United States debut. Making his rounds throughout the Brazilian circuit, Silva (10-3) brings his heavy-hands state side looking to make his mark with Bellator and the Featherweight Summer Series Tournament.
“Signing with Bellator is the best thing that ever happened to my career,” said Silva. “Bellator is the perfect place for me to show the world what I can do inside the cage. Bellator is one of the biggest MMA promotions in the world, and I can’t wait for Bellator 46.”
Entering Bellator 46 riding a five fight win streak, Silva will have a difficult quarterfinal matchup against fellow Brazilian Marlon Sandro, who enters the Summer Series as a tournament favorite. Even with the hype, Silva is only focused on one thing.
“My goal is to become the next Bellator Featherweight Champion,” said Silva. “I am coming to Bellator - not to be another fighter - but to be the best, and to put on some of the best fights in Bellator history.”
“We’ve had tremendous success when it comes to International fighters, and are expecting big things from Genair in this tournament and beyond,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney.
