Randy Couture willing to come back to the UFC, only if Fedor Emelianenko joins him though!
The Winnipeg Sun recently spoke to Randy Couture during one of his visits to Canada about his current situation regarding the UFC. Couture believes that the UFC is trying to bully him around to force him to come back to the UFC. He was quoted as saying, “it’s just a ploy on the UFC’s part to drag me down and force me to spend money and I’m sure they think if they force me to spend enough money, I’ll have to come back and fight. That’s not really the case.”
Couture has already said on numerous occasions that if for some reason a fight with Fedor Emelianenko cannot be put together, then he’s okay with stepping away into the sunset. Don’t get him wrong though, he wants to fight again but only if it’s against Emelianenko.
“If they [the UFC] brought Fedor to the table and made the Fedor fight happen, I’d fight for the UFC in a heartbeat”, Couture told the Winnipeg Sun.
He doesn’t feel that the UFC’s current lawsuit will alter his plan of attack, which is to wait it out until October when his employment contract with the UFC expires. Couture sounded confident about a fight between he and Fedor taking place when he said, “we’ll wait for contract to expire so I don’t breach the contract and then we’ll find a way to make the Fedor fight happen”.
October is still nine months away so we’re still in the wait-and-see mode when it comes to Couture and Emelianenko. I guess we’ll have to live with the staredown that took place at the Affliction photo shoot.
