Munoz vs. Weidman to Headline Summer FUEL TV Event

Powerhouse middleweight wrestlers Chris "All American" Weidman and Mark "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" Munoz will battle in the five-round main event of UFC on FUEL TV, the just-announced July 11 fight night. The news was announced on the April 24 edition of FUEL TV's UFC Tonight.

In January, the undefeated Weidman replaced Munoz on the UFC on FOX fight card on less than two weeks' notice when Munoz was injured and forced to withdraw from his bout against Chael Sonnen. Michael Bisping, who'd been slated to fight Demian Maia at that same event, was tapped to fight Sonnen instead, and Weidman stepped in against Maia. Weidman defeated Maia by unanimous decision; Munoz did the same against Maia last June at UFC 131.

Jon Fitch will have to wait for another day for a fight in his hometown, as an injury has forced him out of his July 11 bout against Aaron Simpson.

Stepping in to welcome Aaron Simpson to the welterweight division will be returning striker Kenny Robertson. Robertson's most recent win was a spectacular spinning back fist TKO over fellow UFC veteran Lucio Linhares.

Previously-announced bouts on the FUEL TV main card include:

• Middleweight five-round fight: Mark Munoz vs. Chris Weidman
• Light heavyweight bout: Brandon Vera vs. James Te Huna
• Middleweight bout: Karlos Vemola vs. Francis Carmont
• Bantamweight bout: Sacramento’s TJ Dillashaw vs. Vaughan Lee
• Lightweight bout: Paul Taylor vs. Anthony Njokuani
