250GB Xbox 360 HDD add-on coming to Japan, no plans for overseas launch

A 250 GB hard-disk drive add-on for the Xbox 360 is due to be released in Japan on March 11, confirms Microsoft.

The Xbox 360 Elite console currently packs a 120GB hard drive, but with Microsoft continuously seeking to expand its range of online services and downloadable content, including TV shows and movies, the 250GB external drive offers double the storage space.

In North America, Microsoft has released Modern Warfare 2-themed 250GB equipped Xbox 360s, but currently has no plans to bring this hard-drive add-on to overseas markets.

"Microsoft has no current plans to put it on sale as a stand-alone unit outside of Japan," said Kei Iwasaki, a Microsoft spokesman in Tokyo.

The new Xbox 360 drive will retail at 15,540 yen (£108.)
