10 Questions With Mike Reyna (by Darrick Patrick)

Mike Reyna is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as Finke's Full Contact Challenge and MMA Invitational. At the time of this interview, his next scheduled match is against Lloyd Carter at C3: Evolution on February 7th, 2009.

Darrick: What was the path that led you to competing in professional mixed martial arts?

Mike: I was a wrestler first, but not quite good enough to make it to the college level.

Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to train in MMA?

Mike: Make sure you train hard and take it serious because the guy you might be fighting will be doing the same, if not harder than you.

Darrick: Who is someone that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Mike: Bruce Lee - just like everyone, I guess.

Darrick: Your next scheduled fight is against Lloyd Carter on February 7th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming match?

Mike: This is going to be a hard fight, I know that much. Every fight I have had so far was tough. I have been competing internationally for the last five years, so fighting in front of my hometown means a lot to me.

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Mike: The attention from all of the MMA fans and the fact that I get to do something that I love to do. Plus it's neat to be a local celebrity in your hometown.

Darrick: Who is someone in the sport that you highly respect?

Mike: The number one person is Miguel Torres. I have fought him in the past and he has made himself into a real champion.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Mike: No other interests at the time, but I have always had a love for Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Mike: When I fought Miguel Torres at Finke's Challenge back in 2000.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Mike: I live in my gym and train Jiu-Jitsu every day.

Darrick: What moments in your life have you been proudest of so far?

Mike: I went about five minutes with Kron Gracie and made it to the semi-finals in the Absolute Division at the Mundials. Also, I fought Rafael Mendes in Amman, Jordan for the first Capital Challenge International Jiu-Jitsu tournament.
