American Top Team fighter Jorge Santiago has been preparing for his upcoming fight on November 7th, however, none opponent is announced untill today. Santiago denied a rumour about a fight versus veteran Kevin Randleman saying that was a lie and also says he won’t face King Mo Lawal at all.
“We’re friends and there’s no chance of this bout take place. He even came to help me with wrestling for my last presentantion” said to Brasil Combate today.
Jorginho – as he is kindly called for his friends – is totally adapted to the American way of life and has been living in USA for eight years with wife and daughter.
“My life couldn’t be better. I live with wife and daughter and have a great team to support and make me grow as athlete and person. After eight years I miss my family, friends and logically the human heat from Brazilian people”.
“The advantages of living in here are the training conditions that are the best nowadays. I can say we have the best for an athlete to prepare for a fight without leaving the gym: great coaches (Liborio, Ouali Mohamed, Parrumpinha) and teammates Thiago Alves, Thiago Silva, JZ only to name some of them”.
Santiago would square off Vitor Belfort at Affliction third edition before the demise of the organization. The middleweight star hopes to get the chance of fighting the Phenom in the future.
“I was training full time and 100% prepared but a week before I received the news about the end of the event. The fight didn’t take place that time but we may meet other one. I thought it was cool his gone to UFC. I root for him”.
Jorge fought for UFC three times in 2006 and scored two losses and one victory. He revealed he could’ve gone back to UFC but thinks it’s not the ideal moment to perform there, at least for a while.
“Today I feel happy in Japan with Sengoku. There was already an opportunity to return to UFC but I think it isn’t the time yet, but I confess I miss fighting back in the United States”.
The ATT prospect is among the best middleweight fighters in the world and wants to face off the UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva. Actually he daydreams with the day in which he will get the challenge.
“Sure thing I want to fight Anderson in the future. I want to be the number 1 of my category. I have already dreamed fighting him”.
We didn’t miss the opportunity of asking him about Lyoto Machida vs Mauricio Shogun clash on November 24th.
“It a very tough fight for either Machida or Shogun. Both has been in good moment. It’s hard to pick out but I think Lyoto takes a bit advantage but everything may happen during the fight”.
Stay tunned for more informations. As soon we find out Santiago’s adversary we will publish here. Thanks for visiting us!
