10 Questions With Bryan Goldsby (by Darrick Patrick)

Bryan Goldsby is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as Bellator Fighting Championships, Clash of the Kings, Respect Is Earned, Moosin, C3 Fights, Extreme Combat International, Adrenaline MMA, Cage Wars, Elite Fighting Alliance, Cage Kings, Wild Bill's Fight Night, Palace Fighting Championship, Revolution Fight League, Xtreme Total Combat, Throwdown In Mo-Town, Georgia Fighting Championships, and Xtreme Freestyle Fighting. At the time of this interview, his next scheduled match is against Ed West in the first round of the third season bantamweight tournament of Bellator Fighting Championships at BFC 27 on September 2nd, 2010.

Darrick: What was the road that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?

Bryan: Pretty much everything I've done in my life has led me in this direction. I had a bad temper as a child so I fought almost every day. I studied Tae Kwon Do while I was in elementary school and competed in wrestling since the seventh grade. I started boxing in the eleventh grade and also wrestled for the Navy. After the military, I began training in kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu.

Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?

Bryan: Train at a good gym and work harder than your opponents. Your trainers will let you know when you are ready to fight.

Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?

Bryan: Anderson Silva, Jose Aldo, and Anthony Pettis because they are exciting stand-up fighters that can win a fight anywhere it goes. That's just to name a few people, but I like well-rounded fighters in general.

Darrick: Your next scheduled fight is against Ed West on September 2nd. What are your thoughts about this upcoming match?

Bryan: Ed is a veteran in the game and an exciting stand-up fighter like myself. I think the two of us matched up has "Fight of the Night" written all over it. I can't wait to touch gloves and mix it up.

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Bryan: Beating my opponent in every aspect of the game. Total domination.

Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Bryan: My father and my older brother. My father taught me all of my primary life lessons and raised me to believe that I could do anything I wanted to. As for my brother, I did whatever he did. He set a good example and introduced me to my favorite sport of wrestling.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Bryan: Family, watching MMA, and watching MMA with my family. (Laughs) I have a really tight schedule with training and spending time my two boys.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Bryan: I can speak Pig Latin, play the drums, and I love music. I don't know what else I could say for this one. (Laughs)

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Bryan: My first kindergarten teacher was a racist, old white lady. When everybody else in the class was starting to learn, she told me that I could go to the back of the class and play with the toys. Which at the time, I thought was a good thing. My dad would be asking me what I learned in school and I'd always be saying, "Nothing, I just play." He came up to the school to check on that and found out what was going on. Then, he explained racism to me.

Darrick: If you were stuck in a bomb shelter for the rest of your life, what three items would you take in with you besides food and water?

Bryan: A big television, a PS3, and Nia Long. (Laughs)
