10 Questions With Luigi Fioravanti (by Darrick Patrick)
Luigi Fioravanti is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Greatest Common Multiple, North American Combat Challenge, Absolute Fighting Championships, Pacific X-treme Combat, APEX Championship Fighting, Obaktagon Challenge, Full Throttle, and Real Fighting Championships.
Darrick: What was the journey that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?
Luigi: It started in high school with watching a few UFC shows that I had bought for a couple of dollars. I set that as a goal to get there one day. I started training wrestling in high school and also Judo my senior year. I then joined the Marines and found a Jiu-Jitsu gym to train at, but I only did it for a few months due to my military training schedule. After the Marines, I joined a gym in Orlando and around six to eight months later, I had my first pro fight.
Darrick: Any words of advice for other individuals looking to train in MMA?
Luigi: Train with a legit camp and take it serious. Don't just do it because you think it will help you pull ass or big bucks. Do it because you love it.
Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?
Luigi: My mother, my uncle, and my high school wrestling coach.
Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?
Luigi: It makes me feel with one with myself. I never want to stop learning or training. Even when I'm done fighting, I will be involved with martial arts - either in competition or teaching.
Darrick: How does a typical training session for you usually go?
Luigi: It's a secret.
Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?
Luigi: My coaches and my training partners.
Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?
Luigi: Collecting firearms, recreational shooting, and camping.
Darrick: What moments in your life have you been proudest of so far?
Luigi: Becoming a Marine, coming back from Iraq, and being in the UFC.
Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.
Luigi: I like country music.
Darrick: What is your oldest memory?
Luigi: My brother passing away at the age of six. I will never forget.
