10 Questions With Dave Huckaba (by Darrick Patrick)

Dave "Bad Man" Huckaba is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as ShoXC, Gladiator Challenge, and Xtreme International Kombat. At the time of this interview, his next scheduled match is against Lavar Johnson at PFC 12: High Stakes on January 22nd, 2009.

Darrick: How did you end up competing professionally in mixed martial arts?

Dave: It started when a friend of mine named Steve Flack always told me that I'm a gifted person and that my hands are hot.

Darrick: Any words of advice for other individuals looking to train in MMA?

Dave: Train a lot and have confidence in yourself and your gym.

Darrick: Your next scheduled fight is against Lavar Johnson on January 22nd. What are your thoughts about this upcoming match?

Dave: I am very excited about this fight - I plan to bring my "A" game. I feel this match will be a good test that I am more than ready for.

Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?

Dave: Randy Couture and Rampage Jackson. Their training is second to none, yet they are super cool to be around. Definitely not assholes.

Darrick: In your experience so far, what brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Dave: I love to learn new stuff, keep an open mind, and be a sponge. Also, it is awesome to dominate your opponent in the ring and hear the crowd blaring in your ears. MMA is an addiction.

Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Dave: My grandmother always told me that when it is tough for everyone else, it would be just the right time for me - meaning for life in general. My uncle John also used to kick my ass a lot until I kicked his. My wife, son, and daughter are the ones that support me to the fullest.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Dave: I love to hunt, fish, and hang out with family and friends.

Darrick: If you had 24 hours left to live, how would you spend that time?

Dave: I would spend that time with my family and loved ones doing the things that they loved to do.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Dave: My oldest memory is from when I had gotten a mini-bike when I was little. I was riding it after I had went swimming, water from my shorts hit the spark plug, and well...you know the rest.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Dave: I can be your best friend until we step into the ring. Heartless.
