10 Questions With Dale Hartt (by Darrick Patrick)

Dale "The Demon" Hartt is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Full Force Productions, Rumble In The Ring, and Mass Destruction. At the time of this interview, his next scheduled match is against Dennis Siver in the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC 99: The Comeback on June 13th, 2009.

Darrick: What was the path that led you to competing in professional mixed martial arts?

Dale: I watched the very first UFC and I was hooked on mixed martial arts after that. Also, I don't really feel like working in an office at this point in my life. It's a nice combination of natural highs and getting paid. Need I say more?

Darrick: Your next scheduled match is against Dennis Siver on June 13th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming fight?

Dale: Siver is an unbelievable athlete, kickboxer, and Greco Roman wrestler. Who in the hell would get in a cage with him?!

Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?

Dale: B.J. Penn for his mind - he goes into every fight with great composure and so much confidence that it's unbelievable. Also, my teammates and trainers at Jackson's MMA, and my Las Vegas trainers. Saohin Srisuk from LA Boxing Henderson gets my respect, as well as Marc Laimon and Simpson Go from Cobra Kai.

Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?

Dale: Do it because you love it and no other reason than that.

Darrick: Who is someone that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Dale: My grandmother - she should be sainted for putting up with me.

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Dale: The emotional connection that occurs during a close fight can be very fulfilling. I have felt linked with my opponents a couple of times.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Dale: Mainly watching my oldest son play with the chickens at the ghetto zoo of Las Vegas.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Dale: Watching UFC 1 is the oldest memory that I have.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Dale: I'm scared of heights and will not go on rides.

Darrick: If you had 24 hours left to live, how would you spend that time?

Dale: I'd have a fight, drink a beer, hang out for two hours with my close friends, and the rest of the time would be spent with my family.
