10 Questions With Demi Deeds (by Darrick Patrick)
Demi "The Human Destroyer" Deeds is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as Glory Fighting Championships, Max Fights DM, Victory Fighting Championship, Elite Cage Combat, Destruction In The Dome, Midwest Cage Championships, World Series of Rumble, Xtreme Kage Kombat, Primetime Fighting Championships, Mile High Massacre, All Fighting Championships, Downtown Destruction, Greensparks Full Contact Fighting, Gladiators, Point of Impact, and Judgement Night. At the time of this interview, his next scheduled match is against Alonzo Martinez in the main event of Ring Of Fire at ROF 37: Warlords on March 5th, 2010.
Darrick: What was the path that led you to competing professionally in mixed martial arts?
Demi: The journey that led me to my mixed martial arts career started out when I went to a local bar where they held Wednesday night fights. I signed up for my first fight ever in a ring and ended up getting matched up with Josh Neer. We battled it out until halfway through the second round until I got gassed out and Josh won due to my fatigue. From then on I have been training with Josh ever since.
Darrick: Your next scheduled match is against Alonzo Martinez on March 5th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming fight?
Demi: I expect him to be in shape and ready as I will be, for sure. Alonzo likes to push the pace just like I do, so I expect this fight to be very fast-paced and it will definitely make all the fans sit at the edge of their seats. I'm going to come to the center of the cage ready to bang and we will see who drops first.
Darrick: In your experience so far, what brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?
Demi: The most fulfilling part of martial arts for me is that every fight I'm matched up in is a new challenge...and I love challenges.
Darrick: Any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?
Demi: The best advice that I have to offer is to be willing to dedicate a lot of time and effort if this is what you want to pursue. It is much needed in this sport.
Darrick: Who is someone that greatly influenced you while growing up?
Demi: The person that has influenced me the most in my life would be Garth Sparboe, my grandmother that raised me since I was eight months old.
Darrick: Where could you possibly see the future of the sport ten years from now?
Demi: Ten years into the future, I see this sport bigger and better than ever.
Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?
Demi: When I'm not training, I keep myself entertained with my three-year-old son. I am also always busy with my work, as well as taking care of some rental properties too.
Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.
Demi: Well, as I mentioned in my previous answer, most people probably wouldn't know that I own a few rental properties.
Darrick: If you had three wishes, what would they be?
Demi: My first wish would be that my grandmother could live a long, healthy life. I'd spend my second wish on my son, ensuring that he too would live a very long and healthy life. As for my last wish, I would turn it on myself and have the "long, healthy life" deal as well. That would be a great way for me to fully enjoy my first two wishes.
Darrick: What is your oldest memory?
Demi: My earliest memory would have to be the first day that I started Tae Kwon Do.
