Darrick: What was the journey that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?

Ted: It began with a drunken night at bar called the Toad Holler where I ended up meeting Anthony Porcelli and Josh Neer. They told me about their gym and then bam! I was hooked after my first fight.

Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Ted: My grandfathers. They were completely different people and didn't see eye to eye on too many things, but they both said if you put your heart and mind into something you can do anything. My dad has also been very influential for always supporting me.

Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?

Ted: You can never train enough. As hard as you train, there will always be someone trying to work harder.

Darrick: Your next scheduled fight is against Terry Martin on April 24th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming match?

Ted: It's going to be a good one. I have always liked to watch Terry fight. He's a banger. My main thoughts are that I'm ready to do this.

Darrick: Who is someone in the sport that you highly respect?

Ted: Josh Neer because he has been the one that taught me everything from the start of my career - and really, how many people do you know that are tougher than him?

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Ted: Winning and feeling more skilled than the person I beat. Also, making my family proud of me as they watch.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Ted: I like to play Xbox and Modern Warfare 2 is my game. I love spending time with my son and just having fun. I'm into enjoying life to the fullest, you never know when it's going to be over.

Darrick: What comic book character do you relate to most?

Ted: The Silver Surfer is like me in a way. He wants to be left alone and is a very powerful person who is not to be messed with.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Ted: I'm really a nice guy. (Laughs) I guess a lot of people don't know that I like to go horseback riding and and four-wheeling. I also like to stay low-key about everything except the fights.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Ted: When I was a baby I remember having this truck that took batteries, drove in a straight line, and it shot water out of the front cannon. Anyway, my dad and mom was asleep and I put it in their bed and let it drive straight up the middle shooting them both with water. I had to be around two years old. I remember laughing very hard.
