Darrick: What was the road that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?
Duane: Kickboxing was dying off, so I figured that mixed martial arts was and still is the way to go if you're looking to pursue a career in martial arts.
Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?
Duane: Bas Rutten really influenced me while I was growing up. Also, Bruce Lee and my father's kind heart.
Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?
Duane: If you're looking to get into mixed martial arts as a profession, the best advice I have to offer is to get into wrestling at a young age or as soon as you possibly can.
Darrick: Your next scheduled fight is against Nick Osipczak on November 13th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming match?
Duane: As for Nick, I feel that he is a really good fighter and a very similiar MMAist to myself.
Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?
Duane: Mixed martial arts in general gives me life. It lets me know that I'm alive.
Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?
Duane: I have a lot of respect for Nate Marquardt for his progression as a martial artist and his success. I also highly respect Bas Rutten due to his passion.
Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?
Duane: Other than mixed martial arts, I'm a family man and I love to study about the mind. I am also pretty eco-friendly too.
Darrick: What is your oldest memory?
Duane: My earliest memory is of throwing paper airplanes made out of a pizza company advertisement.
Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.
Duane: The majority of people don't know that I'm into metaphysics.
Darrick: What moments in your life have you been proudest of so far?
Duane: One of my proudest moments is when I won the ISKA World Muay Thai title. Another proud moment is when Nate Marquardt won the Pancrase tournament. I was very happy for him.
