10 Questions With Peter Grimes (by Darrick Patrick)

Peter Grimes is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in organizations such as Victory Fighting Championship, Ruckus Entertainment, Shine Fights, Ring of Fire, Cage Conflict Championships, Take Down at Tanners, Combat USA, Extreme Challenge, Warrior Concepts, Xtreme Fighting Organization, and Shootfighting Challenge. At the time of this short interview, his next scheduled match was supposed to be against Brian Learn in the North American Fighting Championship at NAFC: Bad Blood on November 24th, 2010.

Darrick: What was the journey that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?

Peter: I was inspired to pursue mixed martial arts after watching the old UFC events.

Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?

Peter: You better take it serious if you're looking at making it a full-time job. Stay focused and work on getting that killer mentality.

Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?

Peter: Georges St-Pierre (GSP), Anderson Silva, Fedor Emelianenko, and Cain Velasquez. All of those fighters are humble and are also the best. Oh yeah, Jose Aldo as well. He fights like me.

Darrick: Your next scheduled fight was initially slated to be with Brian Learn on November 24th. What happened with this match?

Peter: I didn't end up taking the fight because they weren't prepared to give me the right amount of money. Plus, I wasn't in top shape and I didn't want to risk my current three-fight win streak.

Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?

Peter: The training, traveling, the people you get to meet, and testing one's self.

Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?

Peter: Bruce Lee and Jean-Claude Van Damme, as well as older UFC fighters such as Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock.

Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?

Peter: Traveling, dancing, and outside activities like rock climbing, jet ski riding, etc.

Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.

Peter: I am not a judgemental person. I hang out with all types of different people.

Darrick: If you had three wishes, what would they be?

Peter: The first wish would be to have immortality. I want to see the future space era. Secondly, I'd like to have the power to take in all knowledge. Actually, all human-made and universal math powers so that I could give others immortality as well. My last wish is that the one I love stays with me for all time.

Darrick: What is your oldest memory?

Peter: Being in the orphanage, climbing mango trees.
