Darrick: What was the journey that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?
Thomas: Here's the long story in a very quick version. A lot of my friends told me I would do great in this sport. I got my hands on an old IVC tape, saw Pele fight, and I was hooked.
Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?
Thomas: Dana White to begin with, just look at what he has done for the sport. Ron Kruck for his constant push to bring legitimacy to our sport. Also, B.J. Penn for all his support and never losing track of who he really is.
Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?
Thomas: Train hard and don't be in a rush. Remember it's about your team, not just yourself. Don't get into this sport for money!
Darrick: Your next scheduled match is against Sheldon Westcott on February 25th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming fight?
Thomas: Happiness. I just can't wait to get in front of a crowd and do what I love doing, competing.
Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?
Thomas: The friendships, the paths you cross, family, and the discipline that comes with it.
Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?
Thomas: Bruce Lee, "Sugar" Ray Leonard, and Rocky Marciano.
Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?
Thomas: Fatherhood, extreme sports, The Bible, reading, and bettering my quality of life every day.
Darrick: What is your oldest memory?
Thomas: Telling my little brother jokes and watching him crack up. As for fighting, the first time I ever fought I was told I would be arrested if I fought. I still did anyway.
Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.
Thomas: I have a phobia about shaking hands, yet I do it every day. I have a slight case of OCD.
Darrick: If you had 24 hours left to live, how would you spend that time?
Thomas: Having a blast with my two daughters, Alexandrea and Katerina.
