10 Questions With Rogent Lloret (by Darrick Patrick)
Rogent Lloret is a professional mixed martial artist who has appeared in organizations such as Bellator Fighting Championships, M-1 Global, Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki, Almogavers, Strength and Honor Championship, Hummer Man Fight, International Fighting Championship, and Octogono Tournament. At the time of this interview, his next scheduled match is against Bobby Brents in the main event of Cage Warriors Fighting Championship at CWFC 45 on February 18th, 2012.
Darrick: What was the road that led you to professional mixed martial arts competition?
Rogent: My father introduced me to Karate when I was a kid and I kept doing it until I was twenty-two years old. When I saw UFC 1 on VHS tape, I fell in love. I immediately started to train in Jiu-Jitsu at the Robin Gracie Academy. Some of the guys there at the same academy started to train for MMA. I had my first amateur fight and then I won a pro tournament in Tenerife. Some friends and I created MMA Barcelona a short time later, the team where I train MMA every day.
Darrick: Do you have any words of advice for other individuals looking to compete in MMA?
Rogent: I say that everybody should follow their dreams and stick to them. With this sport in particular, expect a lot of hard work, dedication, some injuries, more hard work, and more dedication along the way.
Darrick: Who are a few of the people in the sport that you highly respect?
Rogent: I highly respect some of the fighters that I have trained with, such as Alexander Gustafsson, Vinny Magalhaes, and Ray Sefo. I respect them not just for their quality as fighters, but also as human beings. Above all though, I respect my teammates and trainers who help me get the best out of myself.
Darrick: Your next scheduled fight is against Bobby Brents on February 18th. What are your thoughts about this upcoming match?
Rogent: I expect a toe-to-toe fight with a very strong opponent, and I hope the fact that I haven't had a fight in eight months doesn't affect me. I feel ready to go and I'm hungry for another win.
Darrick: What brings you the most fulfillment out of martial arts?
Rogent: You can learn something new every day for the rest of your life and you still couldn't finish with everything there is to possibly learn. If you get bored with martial arts, it means that you don't like to learn. Period.
Darrick: Who are some of the people that greatly influenced you while growing up?
Rogent: My parents and my sister. Also, some of my girlfriends, friends, and teammates. Maybe some teachers at school too.
Darrick: Outside of MMA, what are your other interests?
Rogent: I like to practice any kind of sport with my friends. I enjoy snowboarding a lot, like playing video games, and watch some TV series' at home.
Darrick: What moments in your life have you been proudest of so far?
Rogent: When I got my Karate black belt, received my BJJ black belt, won the 2009 European Jiu-Jitsu Open, and when I got my motorbike license. Above all though, every time I think of my family and closest friends.
Darrick: Tell us something about you that most people don't know.
Rogent: Well, I was a vegetarian for ten years of my life. I started when I was seventeen years old. Then, I got bored of always eating the same stuff again and again.
Darrick: What is your oldest memory?
Rogent: I don't know if it's the oldest, but it's for sure one of my oldest memories. I was at home with my parents and their friends, hiding under a cushion. I was really scared of a huge thunderstorm, or at least it was huge to me. I was having a real hard time.
