Ubisoft has told fans that Splinter Cell: Conviction, recently delayed from this year to next year, "will be a better game in February than any time earlier".
In July the hotly anticipated Xbox 360 and PC exclusive suffered a high profile delay, moving from the fourth quarter of 2009 to the first quarter of 2010.
At the time, Ubisoft head honcho Yves Guillemot, said: "We are disappointed that we have to postpone the release of several major games but we consider that this choice is the best one in the long-term interests of Ubisoft."
Speaking to VideoGamer.com earlier this week following a screening of Assassin's Creed: Lineage, the short film produced by Ubisoft to coincide with the launch of Assassin's Creed 2, Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto chief Yannis Mallat, said Conviction's delay was about adding polish.
"Splinter Cell: Conviction will be a better game in February than any time earlier," he said.
"The level of polish that we are achieving as we speak is definitely worth the wait. You know Ubisoft is committed to quality. We apply that to all our games. Splinter Cell is not excluded from that."
