Square Enix Adds Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light to Core Online

Square Enix today announces that LARA CROFT AND THE GUARDIAN OF LIGHT is now live on the company’s CORE ONLINE platform. CORE ONLINE is an innovative service that offers high definition games in your browser, for free.

Titles currently available on CORE ONLINE include HITMAN: BLOOD MONEY and MINI NINJAS. Also under development for CORE ONLINE is TOMB RAIDER: UNDERWORLD, and GYROMANCER, a unique puzzle RPG. Further titles from the Square Enix catalogue are intended to be made available soon.

“This is a great game for CORE ONLINE, the gameplay is the perfect mix of pick-up-and-play and challenging single player action. It’s exciting for Lara Croft to join Agent 47 on CORE ONLINE and we look forward to more guests in the near future.” said David Guldbrandsen, General Manager of Hapti.co, Square Enix’s new studio in Copenhagen focusing on browser games.

Originally launched in 2010, the critically acclaimed LARA CROFT AND THE GUARDIAN OF LIGHT tells the story of Lara Croft and Totec, a 2,000 year old Mayan Warrior, who work together to stop the evil spirit Xolotl and retrieve the Mirror of Smoke.

LARA CROFT AND THE GUARDIAN OF LIGHT on CORE ONLINE is made available via a combination of Google and Square Enix's proprietary technology, which allows for support of Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. And with support for Google’s Native Client on Chrome, the game now becomes available to Mac users.
