Darrick Patrick, NOLA, and The New York Times

I found out that one of my "projects" made it into The New York Times. While I was down in New Orleans spending time with my mother during her cancer battle earlier this year, I took it upon myself to clean up one block of the Bywater-Marigny area (right outside of the French Quarter) in NOLA where we lived.

The New York Times obviously thought I did a good job because they picked that block to photograph as the residential example of the Bywater neighborhood. Pretty neat. It never crossed my mind that my "yardwork" would end up helping to exemplify "In New Orleans, New Life by the River". In the photo, ours is the green house.
