If anyone is looking for a instant classic check out The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. There has been a recent revitalization of the Western genre, but this movie is going to take the cake. 3:10 to Yuma is a remake of an old classic, the Proposition, Broken Trail, Seraphim Falls...most of these have been made into more of an "action movie" instead of the classic John Ford and Howard Hawks' Westerns. Yea, Eastwood's and Leone's films had action but they kept their roots in the classics before them (didn't stray like these new films have). The Assassination is a character bio (if you like Scorsese than you should have an appreciation for character bios) and has been in awaiting release now for two or three years and should not be quite as "Hollywood" as the others being released recently.
So if you are looking for a great film experience (not a mindnumbing blockbuster, waste-a-bunch-of-money-bullshit movie) than check this one out. Should be getting a large release soon (its only in like four cities right now.
one of the greatest movies of the year, wait and see
