This weekend will be the first Strikeforce event under Zuffa ownership. Taking place at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California, Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley will feature two title fights and two additional marquee match-ups on the main card.
In the main event Strikeforce welterweight champion and UFC veteran Nick Diaz will defend his title against internationally experienced Paul Daley. The co-main event will feature Strikeforce lightweight champion and Pride FC veteran Gilbert Melendez defending his title in a rematch with PRIDE FC and Dream veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri in the Japanese fighter's first appearance inside a cage.
Also on the main card is a light heavyweight bout between current Dream light heavyweight champion, former Dream middleweight champion, and former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi against UFC veteran Keith Jardine. Mousasi was originally scheduled to face Mike Kyle, but Kyle was forced off the card due to a broken hand on March 31.
The final main card bout pits Dream lightweight champion and Pride FC veteran Shinya Aoki against once-defeated Lyle Beerbohm. Beerbohm makes his fifth Strikeforce appearance and enters his first fight since losing for the first time in his career while Aoki makes his second Strikeforce appearance.
