EFC AFRICA 11: Full Fight Card Finalized

Postby keithlewis » Fri Oct 14, 2011 7:59 pm

After a host of bone-jarring joint locks and jaw-dropping knockouts at 5 massively successful events this year, EFC AFRICA is proud to present the crown jewel of African mixed martial arts – EFC AFRICA 11.

Not only will EFC AFRICA’s heavyweight and lightweight titles be contested in two of the most eagerly anticipated bouts in African MMA history, the fight card for EFC AFRICA 11 is absolutely massive, cramming 14 fights into one night! Fighters from across the continent (including Egypt, Nigeria, DRC and South Africa) will battle it out in one of the world’s fastest growing MMA promotions, gaining fans and glory for their martial prowess.

“EFC AFRICA 11 presents one of the best, if not the best fight card in EFC AFRICA history and we are really excited about all 14 match-ups,” said EFC AFRICA President, Cairo Howarth. “We are now just four weeks from this incredibly show and it is a great way to end the year. Personally I am looking forward to seeing whether or not any of the challengers have what it takes to beat the champs.”

The evening’s massive main event fights see Andrew van Zyl challenge defending champion Ruan Potts for the heavyweight title, while Alex Cheboub takes on defending champion Costa Ioannou for the lightweight title. Then Nolan Swanepoel and Martin van Staden collide to shake up SA’s welterweight rankings and middleweight strikers Jacques Joubert and Tyron Rightford trade leather.

Exciting international prospects include:

• Tez Makuebo (DRC) – Makuebo returns to avenge the loss suffered in his first professional fight at EFC AFRICA 09. After losing on points, this ferocious middleweight has vowed not to leave the decision up to the judges when he faces Armand de Bruyn.

• Victor Anyaogu (Nigeria) – At EFC AFRICA 08, Anyaogu defeated one of SA’s most respected fighters, Neil Diesel. With his confidence high, he moves down a weight class to take on Wesley Hawkey at featherweight.

• Amr Wahman (Egypt) – Wahman represents Egypt’s Fight Club Academy, and a strong performance will pave the way for further Egyptians at EFC AFRICA in future. A veteran of almost 100 kung fu bouts, Wahman is also undefeated in MMA, making him a worthy adversary for Leon Mynhardt.

Highlights from the EFC AFRICA 11 main events will be broadcast on e.tv shortly after the event. See efcafrica.com for broadcast schedule.

EFC AFRICA 11 takes place at the Coca-Cola Dome on 10 November. Tickets on sale now at Computicket www.computicket.com and more information on tickets for the live broadcast to Nu Metro Cinemas will be released shortly. More information available at efcafrica.com
