MATRIX FIGHTS V SET TO FEATURE OROPEZA VS. NSANG AND MEISNER VS. RUMSEY

Matrix Fights (www.MatrixFights.com) officially announced Monday that it will be returning for its fifth-ever event, Matrix Fights V, on Friday, March 16. The event will emanate from South Philadelphia at the Sheet Metal Worker’s Union Hall and will be headlined by Strikeforce and Bellator Fighting Championships veteran Sam Oropeza, 5-2 vs. “The Burmese Python” Aung La NSang, 8-6, in welterweight action.

Oropeza, a native of Philadelphia’s suburban region, will be fighting in his hometown for the first-time ever. Meanwhile, NSang, a King of the Cage veteran and resident of Elkridge, Maryland, will be looking to add to his collection of five submissions.

“Sam is one of the most exciting fighters around and I am excited that he’s getting to fight in his hometown for the first time,” said Matrix Fights promoter Jimmy Binns Jr. “However, he’s not getting an easy fight as Aung comes from a strong camp at Crazy 88 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, one of Lloyd Irvin’s top affiliate schools.”

In addition to Oropeza vs. NSang, the co-main event of the evening will feature the return of middleweight Muay Thai specialist Aaron Meisner to active competition as he squares off with hard hitting Lewis Rumsey.

Meisner, 6-3, is a Philadelphia native who is a veteran of M-1 and was also featured on the seventh season of the hit Spike TV reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.

Rumsey, nicknamed “The Beast,” is 7-7 and a native of Williamsport, PA. He holds notable wins in his career over Chase Owens, John Doyle, Cornelius Murray, and William Bookwalter.

“Aaron and Lewis are both aggressive, in-your-face fighters who look to finish fights,” began Binns. “Aaron has only gone to a decision once in his career and all seven of Lewis’ wins have come via early finish. You can never say never in MMA but if the fight goes all 15 minutes then it will be 15 minutes of non-stop action.”

While several pro fights are still to be announced a bantamweight clash between Matt Freideborn and Doug Miller is also on tap. Freideborn is one of the top students at Daddis Fight Camps, one of the leading fight schools on the Eastern seaboard. No stranger to diehard Matrix Fights fans, Freideborn has made a name for himself on the show’s amateur undercards but will be fighting pro for the first time on March 16.

Information regarding tickets will be released soon at www.MatrixFights.com. For additional information on the event, please visit www.MatrixFights.com or "like" Matrix Fights on Facebook (search: Matrix Fights).
