Two Title Fights Highlighted Hard Knocks 20


Hard Knocks 20 took place on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Cypress Centre in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The Hard Knocks cage was host to 10 pro and amateur bouts with fighters from across North America.

Hometown fighter, Mitchell Carlson, got the first KO of the night when he knocked out his opponent, Kyle Fortch, at 0:13 in the first round.

Charmaine Tweet, of Chi-Ki Training, battled it out with Marchelle Weinberger in the only female bout of the night. Tweet took the win, breaking a losing streak, at 1:19 in the first round.

The night ended with two amateur title fights. Both fights went an exciting full 5 rounds. Fotis Lambiris of Medicine Hat won by unanimous decision against Calgary’s Scott MacDonald. Lambiris took home the HK Amateur 155lbs Title Belt.

Crowd favourite and hometown fighter, Mike Goehr, battled it out with Barrett Thompson of LaRonge, SK. The impressive 5-round fight had the crowd on their feet as Goehr and Thompson exchanged knockout caliber strikes throughout the entire fight. The decision went to the judges and Goehr took home the HK Amateur 185lbs Title Belt, by unanimous decision.

At intermission, Hard Knocks auctioned off a VIP table to raise funds for local “Karate Kid” Katrina Peterson. A total of $3,300 was raised to send 12-year-old Peterson to the WOMAA World Martial Games in Teleford, England. (Follow our Facebook Fan Page to keep updated on this story)
