Cage Warriors Adds Six Fighters to Its Roster
THE Cage Warriors stable of talent has been boosted further by the addition of six more of the UK and Ireland's top fighters, who have signed up to compete exclusively under the organisation's banner.
Paul Redmond, Dave Hill, Tommy Maguire, Davey Grant, Alex Enlund and Chris Scott have all put pen to paper on contracts which will commit them to Cage Warriors over the next 18 months.
"We increased our roster of exclusive fighters significantly in 2012 but we'll continue to do the same this year. I'm very happy that we'll have even more fighters of the calibre of these six guys competing for Cage Warriors in the near future," said CEO Graham Boylan.
"At Cage Warriors we only offer exclusive contracts to fighters who we believe have all the tools to go far in this sport, and that's certainly the case with these new signings. They're all extremely talented guys and, just as importantly, they have the right attitude too."
Redmond (6-3) was one of the major success stories of 2012 on Cage Warriors, joining Conor McGregor and James Brum as one of only three fighters to win three CWFC bouts last year.
The 26-year-old Irishman stopped Yuri Malko and Ryan Roddy in his hometown of Dublin at Cage Warriors 47 and 51 respectively, either side of a career-best victory over Lewis Long at October's Cage Warriors 49 in Cardiff.
Hill (10-3) will return to Cage Warriors action in 2013 following his shot at the CWFC featherweight title against Conor McGregor at Cage Warriors 47 in Dublin back in June.
Despite suffering a second-round submission loss on that occasion, the Coventry native remains one of the UK's top 10 featherweights and has recorded notable wins over the likes of Ashleigh Grimshaw and two-time UFC veteran Dave Lee.
Maguire (14-5) will make his CWFC debut this year on the back of a run of five wins in his last six outings.
The younger brother of UFC welterweight John Maguire, Tommy appeared on season nine of The Ultimate Fighter and hasn't been stopped since a second-round TKO defeat to John Hathaway back in 2007.
Grant (8-1) will be another CWFC debutant this year after a 3-0 streak in 2012 saw him climb into the top 10 in the UK's bantamweight rankings.
The 26-year-old Englishman had a first-round submission win over the previously unbeaten James Pennington to win the Shock 'N' Awe 135lbs title last July.
Enlund (7-1-0-1nc) is another exciting bantamweight prospect from the north-east of England who recently appeared on a CWFC card for the first time in his career.
A frustrating injury lay-off followed his only loss to date against Diego Vital in October 2011, but 25-year-old Enlund made a winning return to action against Ahsan Gilani at December's Cage Warriors 50 and is looking forward to the bigger tests that lie ahead.
Scott (6-1) is currently on a five-fight win streak and is ranked as one of the UK's top 20 middleweights. The 30-year-old, who hails from Sunderland, has secured all six of his professional wins by submission.
Several more exclusive Cage Warriors signings will be announced shortly. Keep track of Cage Warriors on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and updates.
