UVC 22 Full Card Set for Feb. 16 in Columbus, Ohio
The full lineup for this weekend's UVC 22: Mayhem event is set, as Ultimate Victory Challenge will return to the beautiful Aladdin Shrine Center in Columbus, Ohio for the second time with a dozen mixed martial arts bouts on the bill.
Headlining the event will be Bellator MMA veteran Dan "Dragon" Spohn (6-3 / fighting out of Columbus, OH) in his UVC debut, as he will take on knockout artist Rob "The Destroyer" Morrow (6-12 / fighting out of Lockport, IL) in a 205-pound clash.
The evening's co-main event will feature the professional debuts of two former UVC amateur champions, as former heavyweight champion Tim "Fatboy" Dunn (11-2 am / fighting out of Portsmouth, OH) will take on former super heavyweight champion James Dishong (7-2 am / fighting out of Columbus, OH) in a matchup of knockout artists where someone is almost guaranteed to go to sleep.
In the evening's third professional bout, grapplers will square off as Jorge Gurgel Academy product and former UVC welterweight champion Isaac Steele (3-0 / fighting out of Cincinnati, OH) will take on XFC veteran "Treacherous" Tommy Roberts (3-3 / fighting out of Jackson, TN).
The amateur card will be headlined by the semifinals of the UVC Champions Series in the welterweight division, as Nick Rizos (5-0 / fighting out of Columbus, OH) takes on Chris Minor (3-0 / fighting out of Columbus, OH) in one semifinal, while Chad Kelly (5-3 / fighting out of Bellefontaine, OH) takes on Steve Scott (6-0 / fighting out of Beckley, WV) in the other semifinal.
Fan favorite Ronnie Shoemaker (7-2 / fighting out of Columbus, OH) will make his first UVC appearance and will fight in Columbus for the first time since 2008 when he takes on wrestler and Adam DiSabato protégé Corey Dulaney (2-1 / fighting out of Columbus, OH) in a lightweight bout.
In the UVC Champions Series bantamweight division, Chris McKinney (5-0 / fighting out of Beckley, WV) will take on Darnell Pettis (3-0 / fighting out of Bedford, OH) in one semifinal.
Unbeaten light heavyweights will square off, as Ronin product Lance Phillips (2-0 / fighting out of Columbus, OH) will take on Demolition Fight Team's Dustin Sweigard (1-0 / fighting out of Upper Sandusky, OH) in a bout that could produce a future title challenger at 205 pounds.
Heavyweight knockout artists will look to put each other to sleep, as Curtis Thacker (2-3 / fighting out of Columbus, OH) takes on Dayton MMA product and Mike Patt protégé James Bunn (2-0 / fighting out of Dayton, OH) in a bout that is expected to provide fireworks.
It'll be striker vs. grappler in a middleweight bout when former Junior Olympics boxing champion and Tim Dunn's training partner Mikey Furnier (1-1 / fighting out of Portsmouth, OH) takes on former Ohio State wrestler Nickolai Timbs (0-0 / fighting out of Columbus, OH).
Another Adam DiSabato product will be in action when 18-year-old Jordan Schembri (1-0 / fighting out of Columbus, OH) looks to stay unbeaten as he takes on Cincinnati native Jacob Adams (0-0 / fighting out of Cincinnati, OH) in a lightweight contest.
And the night will be kicked off by a pair of exciting debut fighters, as Julian Silvey (0-0 / fighting out of Portsmouth, OH) takes on Skrap House MMA product Shawn Davis (0-0 / fighting out of London, OH).
