Road FC: Korea 2 - Results, Recap and Photos
March 09, 2014
Grand Hilton Seoul Convention Center
Seoul, Seoul Capital Area, South Korea
KOREA 002 "KOREA VS JAPAN" took place in Seoul, South Korea on 9 March, 2014 in front of a sold-out crowd of at the Grand Hilton Convention Centre. In the first themed "Nations Fight" event, ROAD FC was honored to host three PANCRASE fighters for the Main Event.
Japan's most historic PANCRASE MMA was invited to feature in the first of ROAD FC's "Nations Fight" themes on the KOREA League. PANCRASE was represented by three fighters who faced three ROAD FC opponents, and each of them showed toughness and honor. ROAD FC is very proud to have the participation of PANCRASE in this event.
Jung Moon-Hong, ROAD FC CEO, stated, "This is the first time we held a "Nations Fight". Pancrase has a very long history so I am very proud this organization can be a part of this event."
Kosuke Terashima and Lee Yoon-Jun were the Main Event and they went a full three rounds of non-stop action. Terashima showed true heart and ferocity with a late revival, however Lee's trademark kicks and a better grappling game won him the judges' decision. Ben Buchan faced Lee Hyung-Seok and it looked to be a ground game brought on by Buchan's takedown and control. Lee did very well to adapt in the second round, where he struck Buchan hard and then took him to the canvas where he finished by way of Rear Naked Choke. Ryo Takagi and Han Yi-Moon showed the excitement that the young players in ROAD FC and PANCRASE can deliver. They engaged in a striking battle, but ultimately it was Han's dominance on the ground which gave him the opportunity to take Takagi's back for a Submission by choke.
In the women's bout featuring Kim Ji-Yeon and Takayo Hashi, both women were willing to engage fiercely. Kim showed off her boxing and opened up a cut on Hashi early. Hashi was successful with her ground attacks, although Kim made it difficult for her to bring it there. The judges could not determine a victor and awarded the bout a Draw. In the opening fight, Kim Min-Woo defeated Song Chang-Hyun by decision after a blistering fight that Kim controlled both on the feet and on the mat.
In Young Guns 12, the four matches showcased up and comers from the ROAD FC Amateur Leagues, many who were getting the first taste of action on a professional card. Moon Ki-Bum put in an impressive performance by finishing Kim Hyung-Ryul off with punches on the ground. Jung Je-Il showed great striking combinations and Oh Jae-Sung showed great heart in not being knocked down by them in their two-round match that was awarded to Jung. Kwak Jong-Hyun was impressive with takedowns and control, and while Kim Woo-Jae was very strong at defending, the decision was justly awarded to Kwak. Kim Seok-Yong made his pro debut a huge win over Kim Jin-Min with a finishing back choke.
