ROAD FC 016 - Recap, Results and Photos - Nam Jin Jo Claims Title
ROAD FC 016 Main Event Synopsis
ROAD FC 016 took place on 26 July at the sold-out Park Chung-Hee Stadium in Gumi, South Korea featuring the first Flyweight Championship match. Team MAD's Jo Nam-Jin displayed his wrestling, resilience, and sheer willpower in a three-round Split Decision verdict over Team MAX's Song Min-Jong to become the first ROAD FC Flyweight Champion.
Both fighters pushed the action from the opening bell. Jo stipulated a striking battle in the first round, and Song responded in the second by pressing for takedowns. In the third, Jo edged out Song with control in a very close round, and the judges awarded him the verdict, making him the new ROAD FC Flyweight Champion.
Riki Fukuda was very cautious of Yoon Dong-Sik's incredible judo. Light engagements in striking ended in the clinch. Yoon went for a harai goshi and Fukuda stepped out of it which allowed him the back take. Fukuda finished with pounding from that position to get the victory over the Korean hero by way of TKO.
As predicted, Bruno Miranda and Lee Kwang-Hee delivered amazing striking action. Miranda's timing and combinations were incredible, but Lee's chin was made of stone. Therefore, Miranda timed a knee to the liver that crumpled Lee, so the Brazilian won by TKO.
Song Hyo-Kyung proved she is more that a pretty face by taking down and pounding out Kimura Hazuki. Hazuki was not afraid to strike with Song, and on the ground she constantly worked for reversals out of positions and escaped an arm bar, but Song was far too strong for her. Kazuki's corner threw in the towel.
Park Hyung-Geun tasted sweet revenge against Crying Fist Season 3 Winner Lim Byung-Hee. In the first round, Park muscled Lim down and took his back and kept him there until the bell. Park showed a brilliant grappling game and dominant top position in the second round, and the referee was forced to stop Lim from receiving any more damage.
Young Guns 15 Synopsis
On the Young Guns 15 undercard, Kim Dae-Sung opened the event by opening up Seol Bo-Kyung's face with sharp elbows and his aggression won the verdict on the judges' scorecards. Kim Kyu-Hwa also found the judges rule in his favor with his single leg take downs more controlling and damaging than Kim Jin-Min's high-flying throws.
Yoo Tae-Woo won with the first submission of the night as he threw Ryu Kyung-Gwan down and went for the Rear Naked Choke. Jo Young-Jun didn't follow this up with another finish, but he did outwork Jeon Chan-Hyun enough to win the decision.
Daiju Takase entertained the crowd with his Gangnam Style entrance before he faced very tough last-minute stand-in Whi Seung-Bae. They thrilled the crowd by trading kicks and heavy punches. It was Takase's stunning left hook to Whi's jaw that ended the fight in the first round.
