Marshman-Punshon Set for BAMMA 10 in September

Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce a BAMMA- Lonsdale British Middleweight title bout to the BAMMA 10 card at London Wembley on 15th September. The fight will be live televised on 5*, with the highlights to be broadcast on Channel 5.

The contest sees Sunderland’s ferocious Andrew Punshon challenge serving paratrooper Jack Marshman for the belt, in what is expected to be a hard-hitting and dynamic fracas.

Army boxer, Marshman, showed his metal at BAMMA 7 when he turned around a sustained GnP assault at the last hour to earn the British title; and went on to successfully defend the belt against Leeroy Barnes at BAMMA 8. Marshman’s sole loss, on his 10-1-0 record, came at the hands of Tom ‘Kong’ Watson at BAMMA 9 where Marshman challenged ‘Kong’ for the World Middleweight title. A tough and resilient fighter, with an exemplary striking game, Marshman is a firm fan favourite; and with the support of the British Forces behind him, the atmosphere when Marshman graces the cage is never short of compelling.

Challenger, Punshon (11-5-0) has a dangerous track record, with only 2 of his 17 bouts going past the first round. He has notched up wins both by KO and notoriously rapid submission. BAMMA 9 saw the athlete come unstuck against the dazzling Jiu Jitsu acrobatics of Patrick Vallee, but Punshon remains among the UK’s top ranked Middleweights and is renowned for bringing a fast and furious fight with fierce technical prowess.

Jack Marshman said: “Andrew's got some knock out power behind him and a strong ground game but I still think I'll be too much for him to handle in all areas. It's been a while since my last fight so it's good to be back. I've been concentrating on my boxing recently and I've maintained a good level of fighting fitness but I'm looking forward to a hard camp for this fight.”

Andrew Punshon said: “I have been wanting to fight Jack Marshman on BAMMA for ages and am really excited that it’s going ahead. It’s going to be an absolute war! “

Punshon’s manager, Dale Percival, added: “I am delighted at the opportunity that BAMMA have given Andrew, to challenge the champion Jack Marshman for the BAMMA- Lonsdale Middleweight title at Wembley Arena on September 15th. This will be the biggest fight of his career and on one of the biggest shows in Europe. Especially with BAMMA now being shown live on Channel 5, it's a massive opportunity for the UK MMA scene with it being the first time MMA has been shown on terrestrial TV. Andrew has been 1 of the top 10 UK Middleweight fighters for a few years now and has been in with some of the very best fighters in the UK. Come the 15th September he will be ready to put on a great show, and I think stylistically this is a great fight for Andrew with Jack preferring to stand and trade rather than enter a grappling match. Andrew is well rounded in all areas with some great KOs and submissions to his name and he is very confident that come fight night he will be leaving with the belt and as the new BAMMA- Lonsdale Middleweight Champion"

BAMMA’s Head of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, said: “This fight is going to be a tough challenge for our British Middleweight champ and is set to put Jack’s grappling skills to the test. It’s going to be a sensational match as both fighters like to work at a pace and both guys look to finish fights – quickly. Out of 28 fights between them there is only 1 decision finish and just 2 fights that have made it to the third round. That gives fans an idea of the kind of action that can be expected on the night.”

Petley-Roberts Tapped for BAMMA 10

Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce a further Lightweight bout to the BAMMA 10 card as Jeremy Petley is set to face Dyson Roberts at London Wembley on 15th September. The event is to be live televised on Fight Network.

London Canadian, Jeremy Petley, fights out of London Fight factory with a record of 7-4-1. Deadly on his feet and worse on the ground, this all round talent is renowned for being utterly indefatigable.

Petley said:

“I’m happy to be back fighting on one of the biggest promotions in Europe and I plan on cementing my position on the BAMMA roster starting with a convincing victory over Dyson Roberts. I don’t plan on going to the judges. I will be stopping Dyson within 3 rounds.”

Petley’s MMA coach, Luiz Ribeiro said:

“Jeremy and all of us are feeling really confident about this fight. We know that Jeremy’s opponent is a tough guy who comes from a strong camp, but we are working really hard in all areas to make sure that Jeremy will bring the win to London Fight Factory.

As far as how the fight will go, we train Jeremy to be ready for anything, as ultimately things can change a lot once that that cage door closes.

Fighting at BAMMA is always exciting. The crowd that follows the show is great; and you can expect not only an outstanding fight from Jeremy, but we fully aim to bring fight of the night.

Dyson Roberts (5-2-0) makes a fierce prospect with a history of smashing his way to victory via GnP, usually in the first round. A firm crowd favourite wherever he’s fought, Roberts’s fights are certainly not a spectacle for the faint hearted.

Dyson Roberts said:

“I’m feeling both nervous and excited for my upcoming fight, as I always do. It’s on a massive stage so I’m just trying to make sure that doesn’t get to me. I consider Jeremy Petley a very game and competent Mixed Martial Artist and it will make a great fight for MMA fans to watch. However, although I think he is a good fighter, I believe I’m better. I feel this because of the way I train, where I train and the guys I train with, my family Team Titan.

I feel I know what he'll want to do and I’ve got a game plan to execute. The judges might as well take a break because they won’t be needed: Out of the 7 fights I’ve won, none have gone to the 3rd and only 2 have made it to the 2nd. I finish fights.

I’m not taking anything from Petley but I’m a fighter, with a fighter spirit, heart and a fighter’s confidence that I will win and that I will stop him.”

BAMMA’s Head of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, said:

“It’s a cliché in this industry to say that a fight will be a war, but if I could use that term to describe just one fight ever again, then this is surely the fight. Dyson Roberts can be guaranteed to bring on a fierce attack, but Petley is the more experienced fighter who we’ve seen benefit from a greater range of skills in the cage. I expect Petley to fully be able to challenge Roberts where other fighters have failed. This fiery match-up is set to tear up the crowd.”

Warburton-Wieczorek Added to September BAMMA 10 Card

Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce a Lightweight bout between Curt Warburton and Lee Wieczorek to the BAMMA 10 card at London Wembley on 15th September. The event is to be live televised on Fight Network.

Renowned Wolfslair fighter and UFC veteran, Curt Warburton has clocked up an array of notable wins on his 10-3-0 record, most famously against current UK TUF coach, Ross Pearson.

The Lightweight is poised for a dangerous challenge in Lee Wieczorek who comes with 11 wins out of 14 fights, and the UWC title to his name. With wins by KO, TKO and submissions, and with a reputation for both stopping fights and for winning on the distance, Wieczorek is set to be a threat wherever the match goes.

Wieczorek said, “Curt is a great fighter, so I expect nothing less than a war against him. I think it’s going to be a great fight and a true MMA fight, as it could take place on the feet, in the clinch or on the ground.”

Alex Burzotta, manager of Wieczorek, added: “Both Lee and I are very excited at the opportunity given to Lee by BAMMA. Lee is coming off 5 straight wins and has every intention to making it 6.”

Curt Warburton said: “"It's great to be back on a BAMMA event. The promotion is doing big things and the recent deal with Channel 5 and 5* is great for UK MMA. Lee will be a tough opponent, but I will do what I need to do in order to win this fight and hopefully challenge for the Lightweight title in the near future.

BAMMA’s Head of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, said: “I am really fired up for this fight. We’re looking at two top class athletes who have defended their names against some of the best domestic, and indeed some top world, talent. Warburton has the more established name, as a UFC vet, but Wieczorek brings the skills and experience to really push him to the edge. This fight literally could go anywhere, but fans can expect to sit white-knuckled and at the edge of their seats as this tense, dynamic and unpredictable battle unfolds.”

Breese-Kee Tapped for BAMMA 10 in September

Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce a Welterweight clash between Tom Breese and Warren Kee to the BAMMA 10 card at London Wembley on 15th September. The event is to be live televised on Fight Network.

Twenty year old Tom Breese is one the UK’s most exciting Welterweight prospects. The Birmingham fighter stands undefeated with a Pro record of 4-0-0 at BAMMA, in which he has stopped all his opponents before the third round; and a previous Amateur record of 8-0-0. Formidable on the ground, Breese has finished all his challengers via Submission until he stopped Mark Tucker with knees at BAMMA 9.

Barnes-Sutherland Added to BAMMA 10 in September

Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce Leeroy Barnes vs. Denniston Sutherland to the BAMMA 10 card for a Middleweight battle at London Wembley on 15th September.

The event is to be live televised on Fight Network.

Fan favourite and badass Twitter merchant, Leeroy Barnes, has been going from strength to strength in recent times following an impressive onslaught against British champion Jack Marshman at BAMMA 8, in which Barnes pushed the fight the full distance to a decision loss in Marshman’s favour. Barnes went on to defeat the 22-12 UK legend, Matt Ewin, at BAMMA 9 after a late replacement saw Barnes suddenly up against the dramatically more experienced opponent. As his 10-9-0 record illustrates, Barnes has never been afraid to take any fight against any opponent from early on in his career, starting out at Lightweight to eventually find his feet in the Middleweight division. His recent displays at BAMMA have demonstrated impressive development as a fighter and a mindful honing of skills and strengths with experience. From an exciting and dedicated athlete who always brings the fight and takes the risks, fans can always guarantee a tough and entertaining battle from Leeroy Barnes.

Barnes said:

"I'm really looking forward to fighting on BAMMA 10. I think this show will mark a big step for MMA in the UK with the mainstream TV deal. I know the match-maker, Jude Samuel, has worked hard to find a top class opponent for me: Denniston is definitely that, having been a UK top ten mainstay for many years and coming off a dominant victory. I'm very happy with the fight and excited to yet again show the improvements I've made in the gym and how seriously I'm taking my career. Denniston is a tough well rounded fighter and I expect a tough test but I don't believe he will be able to deal with my athleticism and skill at Middleweight. I will win this fight but the real winners will be the fans.

The more experienced Denniston 'Mad Max' Sutherland (17-8-0) is another fighter with an interesting trajectory. First falling in love with MMA when he stumbled across it once on television many years ago in Jamaica, Sutherland didn’t come across the sport again until he relocated to the UK in his thirties. Eventually finding his comfortable fight weight at Middleweight, Sutherland debuted professionally against Neil Grove at Heavyweight in 2007 demonstrating a continued and similar trait to Barnes in that he’s never backed down from a tough fight. Sutherland went on to face an army of UK talent to notch up an impressive array of wins by KO, TKO and submission and multiple UK titles. Hovering around the UK top 10 for a few years now and with losses against respectable fighters that include Tom Watson and Claudio Da Silva, Sutherland doesn’t show any sign of slowing down; and with his recent 1st round win against Brett Sizeland he certainly remains a force to be reckoned with.

Sutherland said:

“I’m really looking forward to this fight. I met Leeroy a few years ago when he was Lightweight, before Bisping fought Rashad and I went up there to train with him. I’m interested to see how much he’s changed since then. Physically he’s completely different but I don’t know if he’s technically any better. This is what I’m looking to find out’

BAMMA’s Head of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, said:

“This fight brings together two very tough fighters who take fights for the opportunity to test their skills against hard opponents and to better themselves. Therefore these guys like to be adventurous and take risks; and neither of them are interested in a ‘safe fight’. In a landscape where fighters are increasingly under pressure to pad their records and clock up the career wins, both Barnes and Denniston embody the raw and traditional spirit of MMA. Bringing depth of experience, a rounded spectrum of skills and massive heart into the cage, I’m proud to have athletes like these representing BAMMA.”

Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce Marc Allen and Lee Taylor to the BAMMA 10 undercard for a Lightweight bout at London Wembley on 15th September. The event is to be live televised on 5*, with the highlights to be broadcast on Channel 5. Internationally, BAMMA 10 will be broadcast live on HDNet (AXS TV) in the US, The Fight Network in Canada, Esporta in Brazil, Red Media in Russia, Setanta in Africa and TDN in Latin America.

Lee ‘Hercules’ Taylor is an experienced fighter who has fought strong domestic talent and clocked up some dominant, fast finishes via impressive striking action.

Taylor said:

"Firstly I'd like to thank the guys at BAMMA for having me back. Having fought twice before on at BAMMA, on 6 and 7, I know what a great show it is to be a part of so I can't wait to do it all again. As for my opponent, Marc Allen; he comes from one of the top gyms in the country and from what I know of him is he's a tough fighter with good wrestling. Styles make fights and if he likes to wrestle and I like to stand and bang, then on the night it will all boil down to who forces their game plan. It’ll be a good fight so I’m looking forward to seeing you all on the 15th September!”

Team Trojan’s Marc ‘Suplex’ Allen walks into the BAMMA cage with a 4-2 professional record and 4-0-0 at Semi Pro. The upcoming talent has scored most of his wins via TKO and has also racked up some quick wins.

Marc Allen said:

“I’m excited to be fighting on BAMMA as it’s the next step for me and something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. I will be looking to impress and get the win. I’ve watched Lee's last fight and he’s got pretty good stand up, but in my opinion that was about it. I feel that I am well rounded and I will be looking to push Lee out of his comfort zone.”

BAMMA’s Head of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, said:

“Marc Allen is an interesting up and comer with all round skills. He’ll be stepping up a gear to take on Lee Taylor who has vast combat experience but who needs the win and will be putting it all on the line. Taylor is a tenacious striker, so can Allen handle the onslaught? Or will Allen force Taylor out of his depth? Find out on September 15th.”

Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, BAMMA, is proud to announce the finalised fight card for BAMMA 10, with late replacements making two compelling new bouts. The event takes place at London Wembley on 15th September and is to be live televised on 5*, with the highlights to be broadcast on Channel 5. Internationally, BAMMA 10 will be broadcast live on Fight Network in Canada.

Following an injury to Carl Noon, UK legend Matt Ewin (22-12-0) is now set to face undefeated upcomer, Luke Barnatt (5-0-0), who comes fresh off a first round victory last weekend against Matteo Piran (8-8-0). Ewin brings experience spanning ten years against top names and marks a big step up for the Tsunami fighter as his toughest test yet. Ewin is coming off a three fight losing streak, last being defeated by Leeroy Barnes at BAMMA 9 after stepping in at a matter of days’ notice. This intriguing Middleweight match looks to flesh out into a captivating bout: Will Ewin see a return to form against a rising talent who is impossible to train for? Or will Luke Barnatt live up to his ambitions and prove himself in the next echelon of the sport?

Matt Ewin said:

“I've had a great camp for this fight. I’m feeling confident in my prep for it even though the opponent has changed. It's going to be a far more technical fight than with Noon. He's got good stand up and very, very long range. He's definitely going to be a name in the future but not right now; and this isn't going to be a good fight for him. I know what they're expecting from the fight but I've got a few more things for them this time. I'm definitely not done yet!”

Luke Barnatt said:

“Taking Matt Ewin on in 11 days’ notice is surprising to most people….Even BAMMA thought my coach was punishing me for something, but I don't see it as a step up in class. I believe the only way to be a top fighter is by testing yourself against the top and I see it as finally fighting someone at my level. Ewin is a top UK middleweight and I see myself as one too, so I jumped at the opportunity to fight him. Everyone keeps telling me Matt Ewin has fought the Who's Who of MMA. Well, I fought last weekend and beat a top European Middleweight in 4 minutes and next weekend I'm going to try to do the same in front of a packed BAMMA crowd at Wembley. Then, he'll have Luke “Bigslow” Barnatt to add to his list.”

A second injury replacement sees Jack 'Mad' Magee step into Warren Kees’s shoes to face Tom Breese. Breese is one of the UK’s most exciting Welterweight prospects. Standing undefeated with a Pro record of 4-0-0 on BAMMA , and an Amateur record of 8-00, Breese has stopped all his opponents before the third round largely via Submission. Renowned for a formidable ground game, Breese has recently been honing his stand up skills and now comes with fierce striking arsenal. New opponent, Jack Magee, is a first round Submission specialist fighting out of Gracie Fusion with a record of 7-4-0-1 and wins via an array of methods. This changes the landscape of the fight for Breese who was looking to withstand a striking barrage from Kees. Fans can expect a show of technical prowess when this fight hits the ground.

Jack Magee said:

“I feel great about the fight. I don’t know too much about my opponent, but I’ve heard he is a tough fighter who likes both stand up and ground work; and so do I, so it should be a sexy fight. It’s a pleasure to fight on BAMMA and it was a good feeling to have such a big show call me up. So, thanks to all who got this fight on.”

Tom Breese said:

"My opponent change is of no concern to me. Regardless of him, my original guy or not, the result will be the same. I respect anyone who takes a fight on such short notice and I thank Jack Magee for doing so, but in doing so he believes he is in with a chance of beating me. He thinks he has something others have not and I don’t like that. I don’t like that one bit and I will dispatch him and show him that it was not his greatest decision."

BAMMA’s VP of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, said:

“I’m excited about both these fights. Luke is taking a very tough fight with Ewin but his team believes he has what it takes to make the step up and to be competing at the next level. The Breese vs. Magee fight brings Tom back to fighting in his strongest area, but with an opponent that can really challenge him using his own medicine and with longer experience. I expect both these fights to be compelling.”
