PXC 34 Set for Nov. 17 at Big Dome in Manila, Philippines
Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC), the premier MMA organization in the Philippines and Asia Pacific Region, announces its biggest event to date to take place at the famous Araneta Coliseum (aka the Big Dome) in Manila, Philippines. Headlining the exciting international fight card will be some of the fastest rising stars from the Philippines, Guam, Japan, and Korea. The event is projected to draw thousands of fans as well as being broadcast live on AKTV one of the top channels in the Philippines. And for the first time ever a PXC event will be available to fans worldwide via a live digital streaming broadcast.
Since breaking into the Filipino market PXC has produced six highly successful events at some of the top locations in and around Manila such as Resorts World, Manila’s New Performing Arts Theater, and The Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. On September 1st in an historic achievement for mixed martial arts in the region, PXC 33 sold out the Ynares Sports Arena and was viewed by over 500,000 fans on AKTV.
PXC Ceo EJ Calvo says, “ We are extremely excited about the move to Araneta. Our fighters have worked hard and performed well and deserve the exposure this event will bring. PXC has grown leaps and bounds over the last decade and can stand up to any promotion in the region right now. Our goal is to continue to grow PXC for the benefit of the great fans in the Philippines and help grow the sport long term in the entire region.”
In less than two years since its arrival in the Philippines (one of the hottest new markets for combat sports and a long-time bastion of boxing) PXC has clearly established itself as the top MMA organization in the country. Along with AKTV, the sports channel of Media powerhouse TV 5, PXC has pioneered MMA as a mainstream spectator sport by producing events that are viewed by hundreds of thousand of fans during huge nation wide broadcasts. Additionally PXC is one of the only leagues outside of Japan that is developing fighters of a high enough caliber to appear in the UFC. Over the last three months PXC sent two fighters to compete in the UFC. PXC Welterweight Champion Hyun Gyu Lim and lightweight standout John Tuck are both slated to compete in the upcoming UFC event in Macau on November 10th. Calvo takes pride in PXC’s role as the proving ground for Asia’s best and expects many other fighters who shine in the PXC spotlight to become some of tomorrow’s top MMA superstars.
