Superkombat World Grand Prix in Giurgiu, Romania - Results

Superkombat cruiserweight champion Bogdan Stoica scored another impressive success at Superkombat World Grand Prix (Giurgiu) where he knocked out Amir “The Sphinx” Zeyada. Redouan “The Spartan” Cairo won the rematch against Sebastian “The Son of Dracula” Ciobanu and the newcomer Jegish Yegoian, who is the winner of the tournament. Therefore, he took the last ticket for Superkombat World Grand Prix – Final Elimination, scheduled for the next month, on November 9th.

With 6 wins in a row, Bogdan Stoica (16W / 11KO – 2L – 0D) faced a very experienced fighter, who had knocked out Tyrone Spong two times before. Amir “The Sphinx” Zeyada (58W / 19KO – 20L – 0D) starts to put pressure with his body punches, but with just two seconds before the final of the first round, Bogdan Stoica landed an amazing left hook and the Egiptyan was down. Afterwards, Bogdan Stoica declared: “I had no emotions at all before the fight, at the moment I am very confident and I am sure I can do even better”.

In a rematch, Redouan “The Spartan” Cairo (14W / 6KO – 2L – 0D) and Sebastian “The Son of Dracula” Ciobanu (25W / 4KO – 13L – 0D) put down a great battle a super cruiserweight division. The Romanian knocked down two times Redouan Cairo almost immediately, but in the second round was Ciobanu’s turn to be counted by the referee. In the last round, Sebastian “The Son of Dracula” was more incisive and everything was in his favour. With just 17 seconds left, Redouan Cairo had started the come-back and finished the fight with a knee in Ciobanu’s face.

Jegish Yegoian (22 years old) had a sensational debut in Superkombat Fighting Championship, after he replaced Abdarhmane Coulibaly in the last moment. Jegish “The Armenian Lion” Yegoian (26W / 4KO – 13L – 0D) has beaten the odds in the semifinals against the favorite of the heavyweight tournament Ibrahim Aarab (15W / 4KO – 14L – 0D). With his secret weapon, the right overhand, Jegish Yegoian won by Split Decision. In the second semifinal, Thomas Vanneste (21W / 18KO – 14L – 0D) won by a Majority Decision against Dorin Robert (9W / 4KO – 2L – 0D). Jegish Yegoian (99kg) succeed to win by Unanimous Decision with Thomas Vanneste and now he will fight in Superkombat World Grand Prix – Final Elimination, scheduled for the next month, on November 9th.
