Play by Play
Rafael Feijao vs. Wayne Cole
Wayne Cole (11-6) enters first to rap music. The broadcast team talks about his college degrees, as well as his 45-second armbar over Mike Kyle in his EXC debut. Rafael Feijao (5-1) is described as being in the right place at the right time - entering MMA after meeting Nogueira. UFC champion Anderson Silva is in his corner.
Round One
Feijao throws a kick, but Cole counters with a flurry, forcing the clinch. After clinching Feijao brings the fight to the mat, but Cole is able to get back to his feet. The two stay clinched against the fence and Feijao peppers Cole's body and leg with knees. Cole claims to receive a knee to the groin so referee Mario Yamasaki calls time-out to give Cole time to recover. Following the restart the two clinch back up again, with Feijao throwing more knees. The two separate and Feijao throws a combination. Cole looks for a single-leg takedown but Feijao stays on his feet, throwing knees to the head and body the entire time. Cole is rocked and forced to the mat where Feijao throws punches to the head until Yamasaki steps in to call a stop to action at 2:47 of round one.
Ron Waterman vs. Dave Herman
Ron Waterman (15-5-2) enters first. The commentary team quote PRIDE and UFC veteran Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic as saying that Waterman was the most powerful opponent he had ever faced. Waterman enters the fight following a win over Analu Brash at X-1. Dave Herman (10-0), nicknamed "Pee Wee" Herman, comes out to rock music. Herman is riding a TKO win in his EXC debut over Mario Rinaldi.
Round One
After touching gloves Herman throws kicks and punches. Waterman takes Herman down and works from guard, alternating between can-openers and strikes. Herman scrambles to his feet and is taken down again, but once again moves back to standing. After separating Herman throws a flashy jump kick. After a failed takedown attempt by Waterman, Herman throws a barrage of elbows. Herman secures mount and ground-and-pounds his way to a TKO stoppage at 2:19.
Murilo "Rua" Rua vs. Tony Bonello
Tony Bonello (16-0-1, 1 NC) enters the ring first, coming out to rock music. Bonello, who has finished all but one of his wins, enters tonight's fight off the sole draw of his career. Murilo "Ninja" Rua (15-8-1) enters to techno music with his brother Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in his corner. The former EXC middleweight champion enters the fight riding a submission win over Xavier Foupa-Pokam in Cage Rage.
Round One
The two talk trash at the staredown and referee Mario Yamasaki has to force Bonello to touch gloves. Once they come out the action quickly hits the mat with Bonello pulling guard. "Ninja" postures up and passes to side control where he begins to throw elbows to the face and body of Bonello. Rua gains crucifix and continues throwing elbows. Rua gains mount where he throws elbows, then shifts back to side control, and the crucifix. Rua rains down vicious elbows to the face and body of Bonello. "Ninja" slides his knee onto Bonello's stomach and rains down punches, forcing a TKO stoppage at 3:16.
Nick Diaz vs. Muhsin Corbbrey
Muhsin Corbbrey (8-2) enters as the first ShoXC fighter to move up to EXC. Corbbrey rides fight on a three-fight win streak, most recently stopping Bobby McMasters in October in ShoXC. Nick Diaz (16-7, 1 NC) enters with his brother Nathan Diaz in tow. Diaz enters tonight's fight following a TKO win over Katsuya Inoue in Dream.
Round One
Diaz shoots right away but can't finish the takedown. The two trade ineffective strikes. They clinch up, trading knees. Diaz lands an uppercut as they separate. Corbbrey uses head movement to avoid most of Diaz' punches. Corbbrey mixes low kicks in with his punches. The two trade big shots and clinch against the fence. Corbbrey spins out and throws a combo, ending with a kick. Diaz lands body shots from the clinch. Round one ends. PDG scores round one 10-9 for Diaz.
Round Two
Corbbrey counter-strikes, landing in the opening of round two. Diaz loks for a takedown from the clinch, but fails - instead opting to land body shots. The two continue to trade punches. Diaz lands big punches. Corbbrey lands his own big shots, but Diaz keeps stalking and jabbing. Diaz vertally taunts Corbbrey, going so far as to lower his hands. Diaz continues to land combinations and big shots. Diaz fails another takedown, but uses effective dirty boxing. Against the fence Diaz scores a takedown, falling into side control. Round two ends. PDG scores round two 10-9 for Diaz.
Round Three
Round three starts as more of the same, with Corbbrey backing up and Diaz the aggressor. Diaz lands blows as he moves into the clinch against the fence. Diaz scores a takedown, landing into Corbbrey's half-guard. Diaz advances to side control. With blood running from Diaz' eyebrow, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt works for a kimura. Diaz then transitions to an armbar, but Corbbrey escapes. Diaz stands in Corbbrey's guard raining down punches. Diaz advances to side control and lands elbows. Diaz mounts Corbbrey and rains down punches and elbows causing referee Chris West to call an end to action at 3:59.
K.J. Noons vs. Yves Edwards (EXC lightweight championship)
Yves Edwards (34-13-1) enters first as the challenger. The PRIDE and UFC veteran enters tonight's title bout on a three-fight win streak, most recently knocking out Edson Berto in February. Elite XC's lightweight champion K.J. Noons (6-2) enters next. Noons enters the fight following a TKO win over Nick Diaz in a bout which earned him the EXC title.
Round One
Noons presses the action, rushing to Edwards and throwing a kick. Edwards lands a combination, then the two circle each other, trading punches. Edwards lands a body kick followed by a big combination, but Noons counters, dropping Edwards to the mat. Noons pounces on Edwards, landing rapid punches and elbows forcing Mario Yamasaki to call a stop to the fight at 0:48. Noons retains the EXC lightweight championship.
