WEC Bantamweight Title:
Miguel Torres(c) vs. Manny Tapia via TKO - Strikes RD. 2 (3:04)
Round 1:
Left jab by Torres that pushes Tapia back, both fighters trying to find their range. Combo kick by Torres and Tapia responds with a strike combo. Torres using his reach advantage to jab, they clinch and exchange strikes. Both fighters continue throwing combos and Torres misses a rolling axe kick. Tapia moves in and lands a few body shots and he continues to unload as the round ends.
Round 2:
Low leg kicks by Torres and now he follows with jabs. Tapia responds with an overhand right, more left jabs from Torres. Torres unleashes a combo that ends with a spinning backfist but Tapia does not goes down. Torres lands a straight right that puts Tapia down. Torres moves in and GNP but Tapia gets back up. Another straight right sends Tapia to mat again and after some GNP the ref steps in stops the fight!
Wagnney Fabiano vs. Akitoshi Tamura via Submission - HnA Choke RD. 3 (4:48)
Round 1:
Tamura goes for the left body kick and Fabiano catches the leg. Tamura pulls guard and Fabiano is trying to move to mount. Tamura using the butterfly guard and Fabiano is in half guard working a head and arm lock. Fabiano gets the mount briefly before Tamura moves him back to half guard. Fabiano lands a few elbows from the guard, Position war as both fighters looking for something to capitalize on. Fabiano sneaks in another elbow to Tamura's head and the first round ends.
Round 2:
Tamura lands a knee to open and Fabiano moves right and gets the takedown again as Tamura pulls guard. Great technical fight so far. Fabiano is able to get to half guard as Tamura continues to hold him from doing any damage. Fabiano gets in a few GNP shots, Tamura puts Fabiano back into full guard and the ref stands them up. Right body kick by Tamura and Fabiano shoots again and is in side control. GNP elbows by Fabiano.
Round 3:
Fabiano shoots and Tamura gets a guillotine in as he pulls guard. Fabiano escapes and is in side control against the cage. Fabiano landing some minimal GNP and he mounts Tamura. More GNP from Fabiano and he moves back to side control. Tamura looks to escape and they are north-south briefly but Fabiano regains control and is now in half guard. More GNP from Fabiano and Tamura is bleeding now from above his right eye. Head and arm choke by Fabiano and Tamura taps.
Brian Bowles vs. Will Ribeiro via Submission - Guillotine Choke RD. 3 (1:11)
Round 1:
Bowles lands a combo that puts Ribeiro against the cage and now they clinch a Ribeiro tries to recover. Both fighters exchange in the center of the cage and Ribeiro lands a hard right hook. Ribeiro with a nice low right leg kick and they exchange strikes again. Ribeiro lands a side kick and Bowles moves in but Ribeiro counters with a strike combo and he shoots and gets the takedown. Bowles catches him with guillotine choke and Ribeiro is in trouble. Bowles lets go and moves to back control. Ribeiro is able to turn and now has Bowles in his full guard. GNP from Bowles and the round is over.
Round 2:
Ribeiro with a overhand right followed by a right leg kick. Both fighters exchange and Bowles grabs a leg but Ribeiro escapes and tries to get control. Upkick lands by Bowles and Ribeiro moves in briefly but lets Bowles back to his feet. Bowles shoots and slams Ribeiro down for the takedown. Working from Ribeiro's guard now, Bowles with the GNP and he moves to half guard. Position work by both fighters, the ref stands them up. They both unload and Bowles gets another takedown.
Round 3:
Spinning backfist misses by Ribeiro and then he lands a couple low leg kicks and straight right. Bowles counters with a combo and Ribeiro shoots. Bowles catches him with the Guillotine choke again and Ribeiro is not going to escape.
Joseph Benavidez vs. Danny Martinez via Unanimous Decision (30-27 all)
Round 1:
They lock in the center and Martinez pushes Benavidez into the cage, they break and Benavidez lands a couple of good kicks. Both fighters exchanging punches and again Martinez pushes the action against the cage. Back in the center now and both fighters exchange strikes and Benavidez lands a few more powerful kicks and a jab combo. Another combo by Benavidez and he lands a another body kick. Martinez shoots and gets the takedown against the cage. Benavidez stands up and Martinez is maintaining back control. They break and more kick-strike combos by Benavidez. From the clinch Benavidez throws Martinez to the ground and works from side control as the round ends.
Round 2:
Benavidez starts with the front kicks, both fighters looking to land strikes as they briefly clinch. Benavidez is outstriking Martinez atleast 3 to 1. Benavidez throws another leg kick and follows up with a straight right and left jab. So far Martinez doesn't have much offense as Benavidez continues with the combos. Benavidez is following Martinez around the cage striking at will and he lands a couple of knees from the clinch. Benavidez shoots and Martinez gets a front headlock but Benavidez escapes.
Round 3:
More of the same with Benavidez throwing combos and front kicks. Martinez keeps trying to move in and Benavidez just keeps pushing him back with strikes. A mirror image of the first two rounds so far, Martinez shoots but Benavidez defends the single leg. Flying knee by Benavidez and he follows it up with a right leg kick and right hook. Benavidez continues with combos and Martinez finally lands a couple strikes followed by a knee and now both fighters exchanging strikes. Martinez with a late fury but it will to little to late.
