Lion Fight announces NEW Main Event for Aug.1st - LION FIGHT 17: MALAIPET vs. JUSTIN GRESKIEWICZ 2

Also Adds Cosmo Alexandre vs. Jo Nattawut as Co-Main Event

Lion Fight today announced a new main event for its August 1st event at Foxwoods Resort Casino, moving the anticipated rematch Mailaipet vs. Justin Greskiewicz 2 to the top of the card, and also announcing that one of the biggest stars in Muay Thai, Cosmo Alexandre, will compete against Thai Champion Jo Nattawut as LION FIGHT 17’s co-main event.

LION FIGHT 17 originally scheduled Thepnimit “Mr. Knock” Sitmonchai vs. Dean James for its August 1st main event. The organization had to seek a full replacement when Thepnimit “Mr. Knock” Sitmonchai encountered international travel issues involving his visa, while at the same time, Dean James incurred an injury in training. The decision was made to move the existing co-main event up as LION FIGHT 17’s headliner and pursue the co-main event matchup Alexandre vs. Nattawut.

“As the premier promotion in Muay Thai, fans trust that we will deliver a world class night of fights with each and every Lion Fight event,” said Scott Kent, CEO, Lion Fight. I’m pleased to announce that we met this challenge in securing World Muay Thai Champion and fan favorite Mailaipet vs. Justin Greskiewicz 2 as LION FIGHT 17’s main event, and in signing Cosmo Alexandre, one of the best Muay Thai fighters in the world, for the co-main event vs. Jo Nattawut, a world class Thai athlete who’s excited for this opportunity to take on Cosmo.”

LION FIGHT 17 airs live on AXS TV starting at a special time, 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. The broadcast will feature play-by-play and color commentary by UFC hall of famer Pat Miletich alongside renowned sports commentator Michael “The Voice” Schiavello.

Fan favorite Malaipet, fighting out of Fresno, California, returns to the Lion Fight ring for a much-anticipated rematch with Philadelphia’s Justin Greskiewicz. “Malaipet vs. Greskiewicz 1” took place at LION FIGHT 6 (May 2012) with the former emerging victorious via unanimous decision. The pair squares off again at LION FIGHT 17 for a west vs. east headliner, meeting this time on Greskiewicz’s side of the U.S.

Also announced for the main televised card of LION FIGHT 17 is the addition of Cosmo Alexandre, multiple World Muay Thai Champion and one of the best fighters in the sport, for a co-main event matchup against Jo Nattawat, a world class Muay Thai fighter who didn’t hesitate to take this tough fight on short notice. Also stepping up last minute is Alexandre, who is flying in from Brazil just to notch yet another Muay Thai victory inside the Lion Fight ring.

Also on LION FIGHT 17 live televised card is an “NY” matchup between Astoria, Queens’ Cyrus Washington vs. Brooklyn’s Brett Hlavacek. Also, the Palestinian-born, now Philly-resident Rami Ibrahim takes on World Welterweight Muay Thai Champion Carlos Lopez, fighting out of Sterling, Va. Victor Saravia, fighting out of Hollywood, Calif. faces New Yorker Andy Singh, and kicking off the first fight of the night is local Pedro Gonzalez, fighting out of Gloucester, Mass. vs. Philadelphia’s Tim Amorim.
